# Pirate Nation: Pirate's Creed

<figure><img src="/files/eDrRNMQSZujtjjSBaeNX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Introduction

Pirate Nation is a new type of game, filled with high seas adventure, treasure, fun, and unexpected surprises. Players collect and send pirates on adventures where they collect materials for crafting, treasures, and pirate gold! Pirates gain experience and can level up from their many adventures.

The game is being developed by Proof of Play, a game studio and blockchain technology company rolled into one. We build real, uncompromisingly fun, fully onchain games. We believe in the power of decentralization and are open-sourcing our technology so other developers and the broader blockchain ecosystem can benefit.&#x20;

### Motivation behind Pirate Nation

There are core tenets we have behind making Pirate Nation:

1. **Players are Owners**: We want players to own the games they support through their play and share in the success when their favorite games become popular because of them.
2. **Games are Culture**: We believe that games can bootstrap entire communities and form new cultures.
3. **Empower and Reward Creators**: We know that players are always remixing games by creating skins, maps, and game modes. Through player-ownership we empower players to take part in the economic success of their creations.

### A new type of onchain game

**Pirate Nation is a fully onchain game.** This is a new type of game that's only possible using blockchain technology. The game and all of its functionality is running on the blockchain using dozens of smart contracts.&#x20;

Onchain games have a lot of unique characteristics that distinguish them from traditional, centralized games:

* All player items, actions, and achievements are publicly viewable and auditable.&#x20;
* Onchain games are "forever games" and will continue to operate as long as the blockchain they are running on exists.&#x20;
* It is possible for onchain games to be able to be remixed. Meaning players can add their own features or even create fully derivative works from the game.
* Onchain games are more secure & transparent. They are enforced with the same security that protects other assets on blockchains.

We care deeply about immersing players into the Pirate Nation universe and turning them into owners. Joining the web3 space will allow us the chance to usher in a new era of gaming that pushes beyond the current limits and offerings.

We're always looking for exceptionally talented folks to join our ranks. Please check out the [Proof of Play jobs page](https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/proofofplay) for our open positions.

# Starting Out

Begin your journey on the seas by first getting yourself a Founder's Pirate in one of the following places:

[PoP Marketplace](https://marketplace.proofofplay.com/ethereum/collection/0x1b41d54b3f8de13d58102c50d7431fd6aa1a2c48)

[Blur](https://blur.io/collection/piratenation)

[Magic Eden](https://magiceden.io/ja/collections/ethereum/0x1b41d54b3f8de13d58102c50d7431fd6aa1a2c48)

If you have a code, you can mint a free Pirate NFT directly on the [game signup page](https://piratenation.game/play).\
Your Founder's Pirates will live on Ethereum while all gameplay and free Pirate NFTs are on Proof of Play's Apex and Boss chains. To get ETH onto any of these two chains, you can use the [Relay bridge](https://relay.link/bridge/apex?fromChainId=1\&fromCurrency=0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000), while the [Orbiter Finance bridge](https://www.orbiter.finance/en?token=ETH\&dest=Proof+of+Play+Apex\&source=Ethereum\&src_chain=1\&tgt_chain=70700\&src_token=ETH) currently only works for Apex.

# Game Shop

The Game Shop will add items and change over time in response to player feedback and our roadmap.

Players can access the shop here: <https://piratenation.game/shop>&#x20;

Sold Out items will be available on the [PoP Marketplace](https://marketplace.proofofplay.com/ethereum/collection/0x1b41d54b3f8de13d58102c50d7431fd6aa1a2c48).

**Purchasing Options & Features:**

* **Purchase with $PIRATE:** Effortless transactions with $PIRATE, with a 10% discount when using staked $PIRATE.
* **Ethereum Gas Fee:** Standard ETH gas fees apply, typically around 8-15 gwei, with your items transported to Apex or Boss. You can check the gas fee levels using [Etherscan](https://etherscan.io/gastracker).
* **No Trade Restrictions: I**tems from the shop can be purchased by anyone and are not trade-restricted after purchase. This excludes Gems and VIP, which are soulbound. Soulbound items will be clearly marked in the Shop before purchase.&#x20;
* **Ship & Pirate Skins:**
  * Skins are equipment that change a ship or Pirate's appearance.
  * Skins are freely removable once applied to a ship or Pirate and may also be transferred along with the Ship.
  * Skins are not ships nor are they pirates. These vanity items are applied to Ships and Pirates that you own, in the case of Ship skins, they can only be applied to the Ship of the same type. Purchasing a skin for a Ship will not grant you the Ship of that type.
    * A Sloop Skin can only be applied to a Sloop.&#x20;
    * A Galleon Skin can only be applied to a Galleon.&#x20;
    * A Frigate Skin can only be applied to a Frigate.
    * A Pirate Skin can be applied to any Pirate.
  * Players may not immediately see freshly applied Ship Skins on marketplaces and may need to refresh the metadata manually.
* **Offerings:** The Shop will feature limited supply items, all-new skins, decorations, and more – some tied to themed events, others to enrich the game's lore and aesthetics.
  * In the case of the Haunted Collection, the Skins and Decorations had 200 available for purchase and 20 remained with the team. These are all the items that will ever be made from this collection, leaving the maximum supply at 220.
* **Gems & VIP:**&#x20;

  * Gems and VIP are soulbound in-game items that cannot be traded and are burnt when used.
  * The supply is currently not capped, should a cap be added, an announcement will be made

  In the January 2025 Shop Drop, a new mechanic was introduced where 50% of all $PIRATE collected in the sale was burn&#x74;*.* Each Shop Drop will have its own mechanic and $PIRATE-related mechanics in future drops may vary.

# 1. Crew

The first button to explore is the Crew button which looks like this:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/oq0E9kozO2AzpMnZlzab" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Clicking this area of the screen will summon the Crew screen, as pictured here:

<figure><img src="/files/OILnH7gkMD6Shd3wYV0b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here you will see all your crew, their experience progress, and their Rum Meter (if they are the Captain). When the blue line (the Pirate XP) is filled all the way, then you can pay some gold coins to upgrade that pirate to the next level.

The Rum Meter indicates your current captain's level of "Drunkenness". The Rum Meter fills when Rum is consumed and recovers 1 point each hour.&#x20;

You can also set and remove captains on this screen. Captains gain XP 10% faster then other crew. This may change in the future, but it is worth keeping in mind for now. Setting a captain will start an 8hr cooldown timer before you can set another.

# 2. Inventory

The second button we are going to explore is the Inventory button which looks like this:

![](/files/gY8mvhY2zaqKE3nOn4cd)&#x20;

Selecting this button will summon the Inventory Screen, as pictured here:

<figure><img src="/files/qwrSKLcmZ5EW2Gxz2SQY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your hold starts empty me hearty! You’ll need to get those lazy sea dogs in your crew to work to fill it up! Items earned from quests or that you’ve crafted appear here.&#x20;

Selecting an item will show you information about that item. The background color reflects the rarity of the item. If you wish to purchase an item from a fellow Pirate Lord, you can use the Buy Item button to see what’s available.

# 3. Quests

The third button we are going to explore is the Quest button which looks like this:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/vQCDFonFheYG9EGLjLZJ" alt="" width="85"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Selecting this button will summon the Quest Screen, as pictured here:

<figure><img src="/files/PDbyCHgwa6Wm2guKSGrS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In Pirate Nation, Energy fuels the adventure. Your crew shares 150 energy that is replenished at the rate of one Energy every 10 minutes. Use this energy wisely as you embark on quests (or don't, ye scoundrel)!

On this screen you will first select the mangy pirate you’ll want to put to work. Next, select the green button on the quest you want to start. That should send the mangy cur off for a bit.

All quests take energy to start and some need special items or higher-level pirates to undertake. When the quest is completed, you'll receive a notification in the lower-right corner of the screen, and the Log will update with a link to view your successful transaction.

Pirates may embark on multiple quests in a row, initiating a queue of quests that will resolve in order.

# 4. Bounties

The fourth button we are going to explore is the Bounties button which looks like this:

Selecting this button will summon the Bounties Screen, as pictured here:

<figure><img src="/files/dSHMHAMGHPcLiPIiD4CY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here you may elect to send your pirates off on a Bounty. While on a Bounty, your pirates will be out to sea for a predetermined amount of time.&#x20;

Bounties do not use energy, but they do cost Marks/Pirate Gold. Strategize accordingly!

# 5. Crafting

The fifth button we are going to explore is the Crafting button which looks like this:

Selecting this button will summon the Crafting Screen, as pictured here:

<figure><img src="/files/UZ5InbPjK1OunyVl26YM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When you have the materials, you can craft all kinds of things. Some are useful and some are just pretty. As an example, you can collect 3 Iron Ore from Exploration Mode, then you can craft an Iron Anchor that is needed to launch the Ambush Traders quest.

# 6. Ships

A seaworthy vessel is to a Pirate what water is to a sea monster: necessary.

\
There are 4 ships a good Pirate needs to know, each with different strengths and capabilities.

### Ship Types

**Skiff**

The most basic and simple ship to craft, built with 140 HP (health points) and 5 AP (action points). It is easy to craft anduseful for new players looking to get around the isles and get the lay of the land. To craft a skiff, you will need:

* 250 PGLD/Marks

* 3 Iron Cannons
* 1 Iron Armor
* 2 Cotton Sails

### Quests, Bounties and Gauntlet Battles

To craft the items required for each ship, there are some prerequisites you will need; these you can get via quests, gauntlet battle rewards, exploring the isles or from bounties. Most items can be purchased, while some like the Resource Crate & High Seas Map are soulbound, only to be acquired in rewards from the previously mentioned places (quests, bounties, or gauntlet battle rewards).

Below is a list of which items you need along with some of the quests/tasks you need to do to acquire them.

Ye must take note:

<figure><img src="/files/uyRhf9m4TfmSMYofr7pL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Cotton, Wood, Iron Ore (Tier 1 resources) & PGLD/Marks can be commonly acquired from Gauntlet Battle reward chests as well as exploration, some quests & bounties
  * Three of each of these can be used to craft the Tier 2 resources (Cotton Net, Wooden Oar, Iron Anchor respectively)
  * These Tier 1 resources can also be acquired by buying Stockpiles worth 50 of each resource from the marketplace and opening them from your inventory
  * Each Stockpile costs 100 PGLD and 55 of each resource to craft, but PGLD Stockpile costs scale up incrementally with the amount you craft
* Resource Crates are soulbound and only acquired from normal Gauntlets.
* Spyglass, Compass & Mermaid Scale, also known as Tier 3 resources, require 8 units of Energy and two Tier 2 resources each to quest for
  * The quests needed for these Tier 3 items are:
    * Ambush Traders
      * Catch Smugglers
      * Collect Mermaid Scales

Crafting Ship Plans requires a more robust process, that is to say, you may have to repeat a collection of quests periodically. Below is a list of the quests you will need to do in order to collect all the required sets of plans for the different ship plans:

* Get that Galleon
* It’s a Slippery Sloop
* What, the Frigate?
* Any Port in a Storm

These are ‘loot odd’ quests, meaning you may need to repeat them multiple times to get all 4 unique parts required to craft a completed ship plan, it depends on who Lady Luck favors that day.

You can also find some useful community created resources here:

### Shipwrights & Upgrading

<figure><img src="/files/YyRjCQ9dyyaOUve8Vll1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Sloop, Galleon and Frigate can all be upgraded up to level 3. Upgrading a ship grants you new cards and higher HP.

* To upgrade a level 1 ship to level 2, you need: 2x level 1 ships of the ship you wish to upgrade, a ship upgrade plan and 15k PGLD/Marks
* To upgrade a level 2 ship to level 3, you need: 2x level 2 ships of the ship you wish to upgrade, 3 ship upgrade plans and 25k PGLD/Marks

With these resources accrued, you can then go to this community-created [Shipwright Dashboard](https://www.piratenation.info/shipwright_dashboard), select the shipwright of your choice (this has to be a shipwright on the same chain as you, Boss or Apex) by clicking the green buttons, and you will be navigated to the island with that selected shipwright. You can also go directly to an island through the game account view of a specific wallet, ye just select “Visit Island.”

Alas, this method does not guarantee that the island you visit does in fact have an available shipwright.

To use a public shipwright, select the ship you wish to upgrade. The second ship, along with the PGLD/Marks and the upgrade plan(s), will be auto-populated on the right side. If you have a ship with attachments between your 2, make sure to select the ship with attachments for upgrade and the one without any attachments as the one to be burnt. Any attachments on a burnt ship will be permanently lost.

Once used, the shipwright will be on a cooldown for 24 hours, that is, it is not available to use by the public for the next 2 hours.

### Ship Details (HP & Cards)

Every base ship starts with 10 cards, this includes the Skiff.\
Keeping in mind that a skiff cannot be upgraded, here are the different tiers of ships and their corresponding details upon upgrading:\ <br>

| Ship    | Level | HP  | Cards                                       |
| ------- | ----- | --- | ------------------------------------------- |
| Sloop   | 1     | 175 | 10                                          |
| Galleon | 1     | 185 | 10                                          |
| Frigate | 1     | 195 | 10                                          |
| Sloop   | 2     | 210 | 12 (+Stick & Move, Misdirection)            |
| Galleon | 2     | 225 | 12 (+Vampiric Strike, Double Strike)        |
| Frigate | 2     | 240 | 12 (+Bombardment, Feint)                    |
| Sloop   | 3     | 245 | 14 (+Inspired Attack, Inspiration)          |
| Galleon | 3     | 265 | 14 (+That's a Big Hole, Continuous Repairs) |
| Frigate | 3     | 285 | 14 (+Rain of Iron, Fortify)                 |

A savvy Pirate will always find ways to supplement his hand. With different items attached to your ship, you get new cards to supplement your existing deck.

Ye must beware, for attaching an item to a ship is a permanent process that cannot be undone. Ye can attach a new item on top of the other item to replace it, but the initially attached item will be burnt, it will not return to your inventory.&#x20;

* Iron Armor: Hardened Shield card: Blocks 50 points of damage.
* Cotton Sail: Act with Haste card: Adds 2 AP to the end of the turn.
* Iron Cannon: Big Guns card: Deals 45 points of damage to the enemy.
* Wooden Helm: Careful Planning card: Adds one card to the hand for the next three moves.
* Iron Sights: Hit the Dry Powder card: Adds 50% damage to the next attack.

# The Game

Pirate Nation v1 Beta Gameplay Loop

<figure><img src="/files/2PlP1L3WC9YnPjuLJta9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Intro**

Pirate Nation is a fully onchain pirate themed RPG playable on Proof of Play Apex. Our plan is to create a massive world, filled with all sorts of adventures that we’re excited to build in the open alongside our community.

**Beta Status**

The game is in the early stage of development and will continue to develop over time. It is our goal to develop the game with a high level of transparency, so players always know what the dev team is working on, how it is changing, and what the ultimate vision is.

**We Welcome Player Feedback**

We want to hear what the players think of the game and what the players want to see changed and added in the future. This feedback will heavily influence the systems and features the dev team will work on as we continue to build Pirate Nation, so be vocal in Discord and let us know your thoughts!

# Pirates

**Obtaining a Pirate**

Pirates are your key to Pirate Nation as you will need at least one pirate to play the game. Founder's Pirates can be purchased on the [PoP Marketplace](https://marketplace.proofofplay.com/ethereum/collection/0x1b41d54b3f8de13d58102c50d7431fd6aa1a2c48), [Magic Eden](https://magiceden.io/collections/ethereum/0x1b41d54b3f8de13d58102c50d7431fd6aa1a2c48), or [Blur](https://blur.io/collection/piratenation).

You can also obtain a one-time code through giveaways and community activities to mint a Pirate, which offers fewer advantages than a Founder's Pirate.

Once you've minted your first Pirate or purchased a Founder's Pirate, you can mint up to 3 additional Pirates from the crew screen by spending Gems.

**Captains**

You will be able to set one pirate as the captain of your crew. Captains receive benefits that only apply to them. Captains receive a 10% bonus to XP gained from questing. Additionally, if your crew is running low on energy, you can use the Rum item to restore it, which will allow them to continue questing. Consuming Rum results in an increase to your Hangover 1:1 to energy restored, capping at 25 and reducing at a rate of 1 per hour.

**Pirate Levels**

Pirates gain XP from going on quests. After gaining enough XP to reach the level threshold, you can use Pirate Gold or Marks to level up the pirate. Higher level pirates will have access to quests that yield better rewards, and also receive greater stat boosts from their Expertise.

**Elemental Affinity**

Pirates have an Elemental Affinity that provides them with advantages and disadvantages against other Elemental Affinities. Pirates will only have an affinity for one element. This advantage/disadvantage is reflected in combat.

<figure><img src="/files/4lK7oAUuqccfC4gEJKU6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Expertise**

Pirates have an Expertise that provides them with a distinct advantage in combat by providing different and eventually unique cards for your combat decks. The utility of these unlocked cards increases with the Pirate's level.

* Damage - Stronger attack cards
* Evasion - More cards for evading or reducing incoming damage
* Speed - More cards to increase AP and maneuver cards within the deck
* Accuracy - Focused on attack modifier cards
* Health - Focused on restoring health and removing negative conditions

**Pirate Re-Rolls**

<figure><img src="/files/Zb2XHmRMOj4zpLfGLPTk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Anyone holding a Pirate can spend Gems in the Crew menu to change the Expertise and Affinity, with a random chance at another trait. The Gems price may vary over time.

# Pirate Gold and Marks

Pirate Gold (PGLD) and Marks (MARK) are the two currencies used in Pirate Nation. These currencies allow players to level up their Pirates and craft items. Players will only use one at any given time, depending on their Trading Lock status.

Players that have Trading Locked:

* Receive MARKs from quests
* MARKs are locked to your wallet
* PGLD can be freely converted into MARKs
* MARKs can not be converted into PGLD

Players that have Trading Unlocked:

* Receive PGLD from quests
* PGLD can be sent out of your wallet
* PGLD can not be converted into MARKs
* At the moment of unlock, all MARKs convert to PGLD automatically

# Command Rank

Wallets in Pirate Nation have Command Ranks that reflect a player's experience. Players earn Command Points to increase their Command Rank through activities like The Gauntlet, up to a daily cap. More ways to progress your Command Rank will become available in the future.

Command Rank lives under the Skills menu as the Commanding Skill, so you can follow your progress there.

Each time your Command Rank increases, you'll receive a prize! When you finally achieve the coveted Command Rank 10, trading will be unlocked for your account. This will allow you to participate fully in the player-driven economy by selling items, resources, and ships earned through your swashbuckling adventures.&#x20;

Additionally, wallets that held Founder's Pirates at the time of our **September 11th, 2023 4:09pm ET** snapshot automatically received a trading unlock. This ensures our earliest supporters can continue freely trading within Pirate Nation as the seas open to new adventurers. More on [Trade Unlocks and Trade Licenses here](https://docs.piratenation.game/learn/trade-licenses).

# Ships

&#x20;Pirate without a Ship is no better than a mountain bandit.&#x20;

Ships open up additional gameplay elements in Pirate Nation and range from being easy to difficult to obtain. Most Ships are obtained by questing for High Seas Maps and then using those maps to acquire Ship Plans. Once a player has obtained all of the required plans for a Ship, they can craft Completed Plans and construct the Ship itself. However, some Ships are limited edition and can not be crafted, making them highly sought after.&#x20;

The current ships in Pirate Nation are:

* Pirate's Skiff - A seaworthy vessel that cannot be traded.
* Pirate's Sloop - An agile ship that sacrifices offense.
* Pirate's Galleon - Strong and sturdy. A must-have for any fleet.
* Pirate's Frigate - The heart of any fleet and a real powerhouse on the open seas.
* Overworld Galleon - A combination for the ultimate gaming adventure.
* Rogue's Galleon - A beefed up Galleon airdropped to Pirate Nation OGs. Only 90 will ever exist.
* Mark's Frigate - It's slow, but packs a big punch.
* Broseph Frigate - This party barge will keep the fun flowing.

Each Ship comes with it's own strengths and weaknesses:

| Ship type | Max HP | Max AP | Damage reduction | Stowaway cost |
| --------- | ------ | ------ | ---------------- | ------------- |
| Sloop     | 175    | 6      | 0                | 2             |
| Galleon   | 225    | 5      | 0                | 1             |
| Frigate   | 275    | 5      | 5                | 1             |
| Skiff     | 140    | 5      | 0                | 2             |

<figure><img src="/files/sGdhRA2alHln6GT7TT8m" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Each ship also has a set of 10 cards that can be seen from the Deck screen. Level up your Ship at [Shipwright](/learn/the-game/shipwright)s to unlock more cards.

### Crafting a Pirate's Skiff

The quickest way to get seaworthy and off to combat is to get a Pirate's Skiff. This vessel may not be the toughest, but it gets the job done in the right hands. The first time you play Pirate Nation, you will see a guide that helps you craft a Skiff as your first action in Pirate Nation.

### Ship Customization and Equipment

<figure><img src="/files/Ba0MiGwYTpVBDVKmKivX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Ships have a varying number of slots available for equipping items, depending on the type of Ship. Equipped items influence the Cards available in combat.

Be warned, equipping an item will permanently attach it to the ship. It can be overwritten with another item, but you will not be able to remove it or return it to your inventory.

# Shipwright

<figure><img src="/files/kI3UVdfV67z31LS69s6u" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Shipwright is a Settlement Building that offers functional services to both island visitors and its owner, serving as a hub for enhancing the naval capabilities of pirates in the Infinite Isles.

### Key Functions of The Shipwright

1. Ship Merging / Upgrading
   1. Requires two ships of the same type and level (one will be destroyed), a Ship Upgrade Plan, and PGLD.
   2. The max level a base Shipwright can upgrade Ships to is level 3
2. Receive a superior, higher-level ship, equipped with increased health and new Action Cards.&#x20;
3. Future services for this building will include
   1. Ship Repairs (To be added)
   2. Additional features (Top secret stuff here)

<figure><img src="/files/HnGSvJyHLT2pdCBDZOGs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Upgrading

Shipwrights can be upgraded to level 2, which cuts their cooldown time in half and enables the Ships visiting to upgrade to level 5.

### **Public or Private Access**&#x20;

Accessibility: Shipwrights default to being Private. You have the option to make your Shipwright publicly accessible.&#x20;

Usage Cooldowns: Note that when others are using your Shipwright, it will be temporarily unavailable for your use.

### **Economic Aspect**

When other players come to your island and utilize your Shipwright, 75% of the PGold they spend is burned, while you receive the remaining 25% as the owner. This distribution also applies when you use your Shipwright. In the future, the owner of a Shipwright will be able to increase the cost of services.

Additional Shipwright services are planned and will be added to the game soon! We will develop a directory for owners to list their services, showing the status of each service (whether it's on cooldown and, if so, for how long) and the price for each service. This will be added in a future release.

# Combat

The high seas are teeming with danger, and among the most perilous threats are the pirates, those cunning and fierce marauders of the ocean!&#x20;

### Combat Roadmap

Combat unfolds in several stages. Initially, the game emphasizes Player vs Environment (PvE) encounters. As the beta of Pirate Nation progresses, new dimensions of conflict will be unveiled, culminating in the challenge of Player vs Player (PvP) combat.

<figure><img src="/files/XmbWcbETQ0pEAsSIdXox" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Core Combat Flow

Engage in high-stakes, card-based combat that unfolds as follows:

1. **Drawing Cards**: At the start of each round, draw action cards derived from your Pirate, Ship, and Items. These cards are your tools for inflicting damage, defending yourself, manipulating the flow of battle, and more. The success of your strategy hinges on the judicious selection of cards and careful expenditure of Action Points (AP) to put them into play.
2. **Reading Your Opponent**: Keep an eye on your adversary's intentions to shape your battle plan. Intent appears above your opponent to inform you if they will attack, defend, or apply a status effect.
3. **Executing Actions**: After selecting and playing your cards, conclude your turn and brace for the enemy's retaliation. But fear not, for your wits and tactics are your best weapons against these devious foes.

### Opponent Dynamics

* **Opponent Variety:** You could face up to 3 opponents at once. Some opponents have Elemental Affinities, while others will not.
* **Deck Diversity:** Each opponent may have a different set of cards.
* **Size Matters:** Opponents come in small, medium, and large sizes, affecting their health and deck capabilities.

### Stowaway

<figure><img src="/files/6mvZPlfiDzjv2qmOOnSv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can spend AP to stow a card away to be drawn as part of your normal hand next turn. The stowed card does count against your draw count for the next turn, so a normal new turn will lead you to draw this stowed card along with 4 cards from your deck.

Galleons and Frigates only need to spend 1 AP to use Stowaway, while Skiffs and Sloops pay 2 AP.

### Building Your Action Deck

Your action deck is the heart of your combat strategy:

* **Pirate Contribution**: Your Pirate supplies a well-rounded Base Set and an Expertise Set that reflects their unique skills and specialty.
* **Ship and Item Cards**: Ships contribute cards that resonate with their traits, while Items add cards that serve their specific purpose. For a detailed guide on acquiring these cards, see Obtaining Action Cards.

### Game Turns

Here's a snapshot of the typical game turn:

* **Starting Phase**: Draw 5 Action Cards and begin with 5 Action Points (AP). Your first task is to discern your Opponent's Intent, a critical factor in shaping your strategy.
* **Playing Cards**: Action Cards require varying amounts of AP. If a card's AP Cost is not highlighted in green, it's beyond your current AP budget.
* **Ending the Turn**: Once your hand is spent, select 'End Turn' and await your opponent's response. But beware! Your opponents are equipped with Action Cards capable of inflicting status effects, fortifying themselves with armor, or even sending ships to Davy Jones' Locker!

# Deck Management

Players can create multiple decks with a Pirate + Ship combination.

Visit [Obtaining Action Cards](/learn/the-game/combat/obtaining-action-cards) to learn how decks gather cards.

* Players may customize their decks if it has more than 40 cards.
* No more than 4 of a given card type can be added to a single deck.
* Players are limited to 20 decks per wallet.
* Cards may be reused in multiple decks.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/iI6EzMsINGvdG4g4F608" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Obtaining Action Cards

The Action Cards available to you come from three main sources:

* Your Pirate's Expertise and Level
* Your Ship's Type and Level
* Equipped Ship Items

This makes your choices before and during combat important - which ensemble to bring into battle, and which cards to play each turn.

### **Pirates**

Your Pirate contributes two sets of Action Cards:

* Base Set: 10 cards that all Pirates begin with.
* Expertise Set: Cards unique to the Pirate's specialty (Damage, Evasion etc) which unlock every time a Pirate levels up. Each expertise cultivates strengths through its card progression.
  * Cards unlocked through level-up may be entirely new to your deck, or duplicates of existing cards.

### **Ships**

* Base Set: Each Ship takes with it 10 cards that fit it's style.

Much like Pirates, each Ship Type brings a different set of Action Cards along with it depending on its Level. All Ships are level 1 for now, but when Ship Merging is introduced to the game and Ships start to level up, even more Action Cards will be brought along with the ship.&#x20;

The cards that a Ship brings to combat match the Ship's traits. Sloops are swift but fragile, Galleons balanced, Frigates offensive powerhouses, Rogue's Galleon precise, and Overworld Galleon versatile generalists.

### **Ship Items**

Items that you can attach to your ship, such as the Iron Cannon, Iron Sight, Wooden Helm, Cotton Sail, and Iron Armor, each bring one card into your deck for each time it is equipped to your ship. The cards relate to the item, for example an Iron Cannon adds a Damage card to your deck.

# Action Card Types

Please note that at launch, not all Action Cards will be present in the game. We have released a limited set of Action Cards and will expand the selection over several releases. We will likely change the Action Point costs, damage, and other values of cards that are present and add more variety and new functions to the Action Cards as we expand on this feature.

### **Damage Cards**

Damage cards serve the primary function of reducing the enemy's health. These cards can have varying Action Point (AP) costs and damage levels. They also differ in terms of targeting:

* Single-target damage cards deal between 10 to 75 direct damage.
* Multi-target damage cards can affect up to 3 enemies, often with an AoE (Area of Effect) feature.
* Specialized damage cards can also apply status effects, such as "Bleed," which causes the target to lose health over multiple turns.

![](/files/ODWAjU9n7GDM4Qr8hgh3)

### **Defense Cards**

Defense cards mainly focus on mitigating incoming damage or completely avoiding it:

* Basic shields provide a damage-reducing shield for the current turn.
* "Counter" cards hit your opponent back when they deal damage.
* "Reduction" and "Evade" cards diminish or evade incoming attacks for a specific number of turns or attacks.

![](/files/pjLprhLpKK3ObujG7cuq)

### **Control Cards**

Control cards alter the battlefield dynamics to your advantage:

* They can add to your Action Points, either for the current turn or for a set duration, enhancing your available actions.
* They offer the ability to draw additional action cards, either immediately or over multiple turns.
* Advanced control cards can retrieve discarded cards back into your deck or even your hand.

### ![](/files/Sy0BkqKHLkQigIcbqOTa)

### **Manipulation Cards**

Manipulation cards enhance the effects of your other cards:

* They can amplify the damage of your next attack in the current turn by varying percentages.
* Special manipulation cards like "Stun", "Weaken" and "Vulnerable" apply status effects to enemies, affecting their ability to act or their susceptibility to damage.
* "Evade" allows you to dodge incoming attacks, making them miss.

![](/files/xs8S6L6LMpJZgtlwy3hS)

### **Healing Cards**

Healing cards are designed to restore health and remove negative status effects:

* They offer direct healing in various quantities.
* Some provide healing over several turns, applying a "Regen" effect.
* High-tier healing cards can "Cleanse" one or more negative statuses in addition to healing.

# Pirate Expertise Cards

# Ship Cards

### [Galleons](#galleons)

The Galleon is a well-balanced ship with just enough HP to keep you afloat, a strategic sturdy ship known for its accuracy.

### [Frigates](#frigates)

The heart of every navy, this powerhouse ship may not be as fast or as accurate as the sloop or galleon, but it makes up for it with its durability and heavy firepower.

### [Sloops](#sloops)

Known for its superb evasion abilities when paired with a worthy Pirate, the Sloop is an agile ship with minimal firepower but enough AP to make it worth your while.

# Pirate's Saga

<figure><img src="/files/ZvNu8hy3VS95s9jSM37x" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Time for an epic odyssey through the Pirate's Saga!

Players can battle their way through this game mode on challenge at a time, facing combat designed to help players better navigate the game.

There are three lives in the Saga, which players will lose if they flee an encounter or are defeated. These Saga lives take 8 hours to recharge.

# PvP

PvP is now live and onchain in Pirate Nation! Anyone who signs up for Pirate Nation is able to play and compete for ranks and leaderboard prizes!\
\
**How to PvP:**\
\
To create or join a PvP lobby, you'll need to click on the PvP icon in the left sidebar.

<figure><img src="/files/Vw8UJKw1G8Rk25jDTCBG" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click on the PvP icon to join the matchmaking lobby</p></figcaption></figure>

From there, you'll have the option to join the matchmaking queue or set up your own 1-on-1 lobby. Click "Battle" to join the queue and get matched with an opponent who matches your PvP ability. If you choose "Play Friend," you can generate a code to share or enter a code provided by your opponent.

<figure><img src="/files/d9Z8WdLWMMXzGtYl2Ma9" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>These values are subject to change for balance.</p></figcaption></figure>

When you play in the matchmaking queue, you can earn Trophies when you win your matches. However, losing matches will cost you Trophies too. The amount you win or lose will be based on the challenge level of the matchup.

Once you've accrued a certain amount of Trophies, you can rank up and unlock amazing rewards! Careful, matey: you can have your rank demoted if you lose too many matches (and therefore Trophies), but your rewards will remain intact.

<figure><img src="/files/Ow4jFgqPAHs6y0m11BvA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Each PvP match will run until one player is defeated or flees (basically admitting defeat).

The wins and losses for all PvP matches will be recorded onchain, creating a trustworthy record of your Pirate combat skills. This record can be accessed openly by third-party developers and also inform leaderboards.

<figure><img src="/files/LRFX8a1NvD33SxulM0FZ" alt=""><figcaption><p>This is a sample leaderboard from our internal testing.</p></figcaption></figure>

Notes:\
➜ Whichever players goes second will take half damage and draw an extra card in the first round\
➜ As always: based on player feedback, we will balance / tweak PvP\
➜ Other future features may include a gold ante, rewards for winning PvP, and updates to the lobby system

# Infinite Tides

<figure><img src="/files/U5KCATWvwUhfqLI6ztWU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Infinite Tides is a new game mode inspired by the roguelite genre in which players can take on 25 sequential Waves of enemies with a single Ship (meaning the HP total carries over to the next battle).

<figure><img src="/files/QAPx17GJsBGMQnMc1Wac" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You'll start each run on the Infinite Tides with a fixed deck of cards based on your Pirate type & level and your Ship type & level.

<figure><img src="/files/35TLTqVGLJCSblXZMyk3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After each battle, you'll have the opportunity to add a card to your deck from a randomly provided selection. You'll have 3 cards to choose from and can unlock a 4th choice by having an active VIP Pass.

# Islands

Starter Islands: A Personal Slice of Pirate Nation

<div data-full-width="true"><figure><img src="/files/lICm0oVatuxxNHEzd5Mb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

In Pirate Nation, a unique Starter Island awaits each player – a private oasis that's ready to be molded into a personal paradise.

### Islands 101: The Basics&#x20;

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/1OvyAMnbJmG5piPFOEga" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Islands act as a private display ground for trophies and artifacts gathered from Pirates' daring adventures. A simple click on the Island Skiff or the new HUD icon makes the journey to this personalized space.

<figure><img src="/files/njJaCs04SfmAL1OiQRDh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Starter Islands, while having a fixed shape and size, are a blank canvas that beckons personal creativity. It's up to players to decide what to craft and where to place it, making each Island a unique reflection of individual style.

And here's a convenient feature – you can access your inventory and craft right from your island.

### Beyond the Horizon: The Future of Islands&#x20;

The Starter Island represents just the tip of the iceberg. Soon, players will be able to place items in water, generate resources through functional items such as the Windmill, and visit other islands!

# Quests

**Basic Quests**

Players engage with an early version of the questing system in the Pirate Nation beta. The v.1 version allows individual Pirates to be sent on quests that are selected from a master quest list. If the pirate meets the requirements for the selected quest, then the Pirate will be sent on their way and complete the quest moments later.&#x20;

Completing the quest will grant that Pirate XP toward their next level, some Pirate Gold/Marks, and any items that the quest noted as rewards. Some quests provide [Resources that can be used to Craft](/learn/the-game/resources-and-crafting) items and other rewards like Rum!

**Advanced Quests**

After collecting basic resources and crafting items, you will begin to find more advanced items that cannot be crafted, and can only be obtained from completing mid-level quests. New items are used to unlock even more advanced quests that provide better XP to the pirate that completes them, Ship Plans, random rewards that can be quite good, like Jugs of Rum, and even more gold!

**Cooldown Quests**

There are certain quests that can only be done once every few hours or even once a day, and in some cases slightly longer. These quests reward either high tier items like Maps and Ship Plans, generous amounts of XP, or a bountiful haul of Pirate Gold/Marks. Players must strategize and plan out their gameplay to take advantage of these quests.

# Resources and Crafting

Resources are found through [exploration ](/learn/the-game/exploration-world-quests-and-shared-world)& by completing some [quests](/learn/the-game/quests), and are used to Craft items. Once collected, these resources can be crafted into items that unlock better quests.

These resources can also be used to craft decorations, like Totems and Tikis, to name a few. These items will remain in your inventory until used for Crafting, for now. You can also swap these Resources for each other, in addition to Pirate Gold/Marks, with [Flip the Trader](/learn/the-game/the-trader).

#### Quest-Oriented Resource Hierarchy

Resources are divided into different tiers. Tier 1 resources are easily obtained by completing low-level quests, while Tier 2 resources require crafting from Tier 1 resources. The rarest Tier 3 resources can only be earned through completing quests that require the use of Tier 2 resources. Players gather and utilize resources of varying tiers to progress in the game and unlock new quests and rewards.

Tier 1 Resources - Wood, Cotton, Iron Ore - these are found through [exploration](/learn/the-game/exploration-world-quests-and-shared-world)

Tier 2 Resources - Wooden Oar, Cotton Net, Iron Anchor

Tier 3 Resources - Spyglass, Compass, Mermaid Scale

<figure><img src="/files/jzezkLVZr2x87aZirkTN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Crafting-Oriented Resource Hierarchy

<figure><img src="/files/6CYmXyiBhiJWuDhRmdTU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

As part of the advanced crafting system, there are different kinds of resources that correspond to the collection [Skills](/learn/the-game/skills) used in [Exploration](/learn/the-game/exploration-world-quests-and-shared-world): Gathering, Harvesting, and Mining. As you level up the requisite skill, you'll unlock the ability to collect these rarer resources and utilize them in more advanced crafting recipes.

Flax is collected with the Harvesting Skill, Copper Ore is collected with the Mining Skill, and Oak Wood is collected with the Gathering Skill.

<figure><img src="/files/w6aJMU5dKNXKjSkpeD3c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can also collect higher-tier resources once you reach the required Skill level and Pirate level:

* Dread Ore, which requires level 40 Mining
* Fathom Wood, which requires level 40 Gathering
* Silk, which requires level 40 of Harvesting

Work towards collecting these resources to craft more powerful items!

# Monkey Business

<figure><img src="/files/HsztwgJHeQRzU0WblZ9q" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Monkey Business is now available on Parrot's Perch for players looking to save time while collecting their Crafting resources. Bananas can be acquired by trading in Gems at Flip the Trader.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/K788sfGCoDglbcX7o1PH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can access the Monkey Business menu via the warehouse building on the northern shore of Parrot's Perch.

<figure><img src="/files/9UUovNk9MCb8mcucLN5y" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

From the Monkey Business menu, you can spend Energy and Bananas to collect the resources of your choice. Note that you'll still need the corresponding Skill levels to collect higher-tier resources.

# Crafting Buildings

<figure><img src="/files/gJZn9YOM2aivjT7PhgCU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Players can create Crafting Buildings to place on their personal islands (not Parrot's Perch) and use them to craft rare items asynchronously!

There are 3 Crafting Buildings (the Loom, the Workshop, and the Foundry) and each corresponding to a line of resources and corresponding Skill:

* The Loom is tied to the Harvesting Skill, develops the Weaving Skill, and utilizes Cotton, Flax, and Silk
* The Workshop is tied to the Gathering Skill, develops the Craftsmanship Skill, and utilizes Pine Wood, Oak Wood, and Fathom Wood
* The Foundry is tied to the Mining Skill, develops the Metallurgy Skill, and utilizes Iron Ore, Copper Ore, and Dread Ore

The more you use your buildings, the more you can increase your Crafting Skills and, eventually, upgrade the buildings to unlock even more valuable Crafting recipes.

# Skills

<figure><img src="/files/HU5hzSZVByVTI5n1g5ia" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

All Pirates have 5 Skills they can invest time in leveling up: Commanding, Treasureseeking, Mining, Gathering, and Harvesting.

Commanding can be increased by earning Command Points in the Gauntlet, while the other 4 Skills can be increased by collecting the corresponding resources in Exploration:

* Harvesting is increased by collecting Cotton, Flax, and Silk
* Gathering is increased by collecting Pine, Oak, and Fathom Wood
* Mining is increased by collecting Iron, Copper, and Dread Ore
* Treasureseeking while opening chests on islands

Leveling up your Skills enables you to collect resources from larger nodes and more advanced resource types.

# The Trader

<figure><img src="/files/PTP99LqH6csG1ldD2a4o" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Meet Flip the Trader**

After decades of service in the Merman King’s army, Flip grew tired of constantly battling pirates and decided to trade his sword for a ledger. He ventured beyond his familiar waters and discovered a chain of islands bustling with trade. Seeing an opportunity to use his skills in a different way, he dove headfirst into the world of commerce. With his natural charm and intellect, Flip quickly established himself as a merchant known for his shrewd negotiations and knack for sealing profitable deals.

<figure><img src="/files/KYKG6jVImqZKPp1d8974" alt=""><figcaption><p>Visit the Trader at Flip's Deep Discounts</p></figcaption></figure>

Flip's Deep Discounts is a Settlement Building enabling you to trade between Cotton, Stone, Wood, and Pirate Gold. Visit the Trader and enter in the amount of a resource you’re willing to trade to see what you’ll receive in the resource you want to collect. There is a `Max` button you can select to fully convert your full stockpile of a given resource into the desired resource.

<div data-full-width="true"><figure><img src="/files/0a7Bo3eGm51zrepvEaXA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Exchange rates for resources are subject to change to ensure balance. For now, all resources you send in the trade will be burned in the background. The Trader's operations may be changed or expanded in the future.

Note: If you don’t yet have a trade license, your resource conversions will only use Marks, not Pirate Gold.

# Exploration, World Quests, & Shared World

Exploration allows you to sail your ship(s) to the procedurally generated islands of the Infinite Isles. Seek out hidden coves & unchartered territories as you collect [Tier 1 Resources](/learn/the-game/resources-and-crafting), including Pirate Gold, Wood, Iron Ore & Cotton.\
\
**Here's how Exploration works:** \
\
1\. Your Pirate is able to swim! Click towards the water off your main island, your Pirate will hop in. \
2\. Alternatively, construct or purchase a [Ship](/learn/the-game/ships). Any Ship will do, though some are faster than others. \
3\. Whether you are swimming or sailing a Ship, use your mouse or WASD keys to move around.\
4\. Begin exploring the surround area. You will discover islands unique to your game instance. \
5\. You will be able to hop ashore islands, or disembark your ship by pressing your spacebar. \
\
Note, the islands you are able to explore are unique to your game instance, so they will be different than the islands that your friends will be exploring when they play Pirate Nation.

<figure><img src="/files/echXM1txnSSqGwnLjARt" alt=""><figcaption><p>Move around with your mouse or WASD keys</p></figcaption></figure>

#### Shared World

You may notice while on Parrot's Perch or out exploring the Infinite Isles that your fellow Pirates are exploring with you.

<figure><img src="/files/0wmN0fL7rMdceqi1CJ5L" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Collecting resources:**\
\
Once you are on an island, you will be able to use Energy (your available Energy bar is at the center top of your screen) to collect resources. Once a resource node has been fully harvested, it will not replenish. So you'll need to visit other islands to get more.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/9D1gjE42NyRBcCO803x4" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click on chests &#x26; other shiny objects to collect their resources</p></figcaption></figure>

**Lost at sea:**

In the event you get lost or stuck while exploring, click the home button in the top -right corner of the screen, beneath your Pirate. This will return your Pirate and Ship to your main island, and you can begin exploring again.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/EyZZrB8JB4E83scXXAid" alt=""><figcaption><p>The home button can help if you get lost at sea</p></figcaption></figure>

Alternatively, you can always warp back to your Ship instantly with the Return to Ship button if you've deboarded in Exploration mode.

<figure><img src="/files/X5IsCkR274vCLDeVYKeR" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click the Ship button to warp back to your Ship.</p></figcaption></figure>

#### Shared World Map

<figure><img src="/files/t3dLk1D17QIomxLuMM2L" alt=""><figcaption><p>You can click-copy your coordinates to share with your fellow Pirates</p></figcaption></figure>

While sailing the Infinite Isles, you'll notice some coordinates in the upper-left of the screen by your Captain's portrait. Now, you and all other Pirate Nation players will be navigating an identical map together, rotating to a new version every 12 hours. Chat with your fellow Pirates to find the resources and locations you want by sharing the coordinates!

#### Combat Quests

<figure><img src="/files/2kn3nQ0TPMm6X3QtBVN9" alt=""><figcaption><p>Pick a fight out on the high seas by spending energy</p></figcaption></figure>

You can also complete "Combat Quests" by picking fights with enemies you've seen in the Gauntlet while in Exploration mode. When you find the enemy, you can hover over it see the Energy required to attempt the battle and click on it to see the battle details, including lore, difficulty, and possible rewards for success.

<figure><img src="/files/z2U6NPVq0F8Cp8vouG1F" alt=""><figcaption><p>See the difficulty, available rewards, and swap decks before doing battle</p></figcaption></figure>

You can swap your decks and then do battle similarly to how you approach the Gauntlet.

World Quests can reach up to 5 Skulls ins difficulty, with 4 currently being the highest difficulty available to challenge in the Infinite Isles.

# The Gauntlet

The ocean is teeming with all sorts of creatures, some more dangerous than others. Each day brings a new batch of opponents to these waters. To obtain items and perhaps even treasure maps, you'll need to embark on a series of increasingly challenging battles. It all begins by visiting the buoy located in the north-west of the island, where The Gauntlet awaits.

Select your Ship and face off against a series of enemies whose strength and abilities increase with each battle. Your goal is to defeat all of them and claim their loot as Pirate Lord. The Gauntlet has two paths a Pirate can take, Normal and Hard. Hard Gauntlets require an entry fee of 500 Pirate Gold, but the greater the risk, the greater the reward!&#x20;

If your first attempt ends with your ship settling on the sea floor, don't worry! You can keep trying until you emerge victorious. However, it's worth noting that this unlimited re-entry policy will change in the future.

#### Gauntlet Training

<figure><img src="/files/F1rAdrtGxuXSCzl9KUaW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can practice any of the Gauntlet challenges from that day as much as you want, without paying entry fees for the more difficult Gauntlets.

# Bounties

<figure><img src="/files/xCSUx0EeCyJkqrn1jRDy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Summary**

Bounties add variety to your daily gameplay in Pirate Nation! With Bounties, you can put your pirates to use even when you're not actively playing. And the best part is that you don't even need to use energy to participate!

### How Bounties Work

Bounties have a duration of 11 hours once begun, although a few take longer, some up to 6 days. Each Bounty rewards you with a basic resource of your choosing, along with a potential bonus reward if you meet the right conditions.

Bounties have a base reward tier and 3 'bonus tiers'. The bonus tiers are at 5, 10 and 20 Pirates.

Once you undertake a Bounty, your allocated pirates will be locked until you complete it.&#x20;

### Founder's Bounties

Keep an eye out for the golden crossbones on the right side for Bounties that are exclusive to Founder's Pirate holders.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/wpA0uKRx4U9qneWyoWd8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Claiming Your Rewards

Completing a Bounty will earn you payouts, which you must claim to receive. Note that if any of your pirates are transferred while on Bounty you won't be able to claim your payout, so sit tight!

# World Bosses

In Pirate Nation, massive creatures like the Megalodon, Sea Serpent, Kraken, and other fearsome beasts spawn occasionally and players must coordinate together to defeat them.&#x20;

While a World Boss event is active, Players can battle one World Boss every x-hours (the duration will change based on the event) and must carefully select their target, Captain, and Ship.

A leaderboard tracks each player's total damage inflicted to all World Bosses, and if a boss is defeated before the event ends, players who contributed to its defeat will receive prizes. Leaderboard winners will receive both their Leaderboard rewards and the participation rewards.

The player who lands the final blow on a World Boss will receive a rare, 1-of-1 NFT of that boss. When a World Boss is defeated, it is retired from the game forever, and any boss that remains undefeated licks its wounds to plot future mayhem.

# The Wishing Well

The Wishing Well offers players the chance to redeem Worn Copper Coins for exciting in-game rewards.

A total of 2,000 items were made available when the Wishing Well launched. This number will decrease over time as each item that is claimed is removed from the Wishing Well's prize pool.

If all the prizes in the pool are claimed, the Wishing Well will close, and no other wishes will be granted until the Wishing Well opens again. There is currently no scheduled date or time for when that might be.

Worn Copper Coins have a very small chance of being rewarded from specific Quests, Bounties, and the final Gauntlet Battle of the day. They can be redeemed one at a time. Each coin grants one wish: one item from the Wishing Well prize pool.

The Wishing Well contains Pirates (both Gen 1 and Gen 0), Ship Plans, Ship Skin Plans, actual Ships, Island decorations, and unique items like team 1:1s and more.

Check <https://piratenation.game/wishingwell> to see current items available for redemption.

# Wishing Well IOU Token T\&C

## IOUs Terms & Conditions

Pirate Nation is excited to introduce new rewards to our Wishing Well, some of which live outside the blockchain. Some are for flexing, others to influence our naming, some to pry our team for alpha, and some physical goods. An IOU represents a tradeable token for any one of these exciting rewards.

**Here are the new types of tokens:**

Admiral's Audience - Spend 30 minutes 1:1 with any team member of your choosing.

***

Custom Voxel PFP - Submit a photo to our voxel artist and have them make a custom voxel PFP.

***

Loreweaver: Bounty\* - Name a bounty alongside our team.

***

Loreweaver: Quest\* - Name a quest alongside our team.

***

Loreweaver: World Boss\* - Name our next World Boss.

***

PoP Swag Ticket - We’ll ship you some swag.

***

\*The team has the right to refuse suggestions that do not align with our company values or that would reflect poorly on the Pirate Nation ecosystem.

#### Redemption for non-IRL Loreweaver tokens

1. **Initiation**: Open up a ticket in the Pirate Nation discord.
2. **Token Transfer**: Sends the IOU token to piratenation.eth along with an etherscan receipt.
3. **Information Collection**: A mod will will send a Google Form to gather suggestions for the particular topic.
4. **Review:** Team will review and provide feedback or suggestions.

#### Redemption for PoP Swag Ticket

Here's a detailed guide on how the redemption process will work for physical goods.

#### **Fulfillment Timeline**

* After the redemption request is made, we commit to fulfilling the delivery within **120 days**. Moreover, this redemption feature will be operational **180 days** post the feature launch.

#### **Tradability of IOU token**

* The IOU tokens associated with this feature are tradable on Proof of Play's Marketplace without the typical Trade License restrictions. Once the token is burned and out of circulation, they will be recognized as the rightful recipient of the physical item.

#### **Redemption Process**

The following steps outline the process a player will undertake to redeem their physical items:

1. **Initiation**: Open up a ticket in the Pirate Nation discord.
2. **Token Transfer**: The player then sends the IOU token to piratenation.eth along with an etherscan receipt.
3. **Information Collection**: A mod will send a Google Form to gather crucial information like size preferences and shipping address.
4. **Delivery**: The items will be drop-shipped directly to the player’s home address.

#### **Redemption Terms & Conditions**

* **Shipping Policy**: We aim to ship globally, but in instances where shipping costs are exorbitant, we will work with the player to find a mutually agreeable solution.

# Item Rarity

A guide to help you understand how common or rare game items are

Some items in Pirate Nation are easier to acquire than others and rarity rankings are used to indicate how difficult it is to obtain an item.

Some items are collected by doing easier, low level quests and will be classified as Common. An item that can only be obtained from a limited time prize pool will be graded a Rare or even Legendary.

Some items that cannot be crafted in the game will be provided as a part of a very small prize pool for limited time events or offers and will receive an Artifact or Heirloom rarity level. If you happen to possess one of these items, you are one of a very limited number of Pirate Lords to have that treasure!

All our items have unique background colors which will make it possible for you to easily identify how rare an item is. For reference, you can check the chart below:<br>

# Hold & Own

Learn how you can get a jumpstart on Pirate Nation by holding your pirate

### **Diamond Hands are So 2021. Have you Heard About Gold Hands?**&#x20;

We'll be rewarding players for holding their pirates and playing Pirate Nation by Gold Handing them in-game. Gold Handers will be eligible to claim Founder’s Chests filled with in-game items needed for the adventures on the high seas, plus one Founder's Map Piece per drop period. The chests are an important benefit that allows you to get a head start collecting the resources you’ll need to find yourself atop the leaderboard and on your path towards becoming a feared and renowned Pirate Captain!

Check it out at this link: [Hold & Own.](https://piratenation.game/crew)

### **Founder's Map Pieces You Say?**&#x20;

Four Founder's Map Pieces will be awarded over the duration of the hold periods and combine these four pieces to unearth a special treasure! They are not interchangeable and you will need four distinct map pieces, one from each claim period, to collect the reward at the end. These four map pieces will also be tradeable on the open market should you choose to buy more (or, gasp, sell yours.)

### **What to Expect**

As with “real” treasure chests, they aren’t all created equal, which means that everyone will get different rewards and the mystery of what you get will not be revealed until you open your chest. The chests you collect will also be tradeable if you want to create your own luck and increase your odds at claiming rare in-game items. We’ll be using a best-in-class fully on-chain randomizer built in house. As per what’s in the chests, you’re going to have to wait to find out…

You will need to **Claim** the chest with a gas-less transaction in the[ Hold & Own](https://piratenation.game/crew) section of the website and to check what rewards you’ve earned, you will need to open the game, navigate to the **Inventory** page and click **Use**.

### **The Nitty Gritty**&#x20;

The Founder's Chests and Founder’s Map Pieces will be tied to each unique pirate. If you hold through the first period and then sell your pirate, you will keep the Founder's Chest and Founder’s Map Piece and that will not be claimable by the next owner. Similarly, if you transfer it to another wallet before the hold period is complete, the Golden Hands clock resets to zero on that pirate. For safe purchasing, you can check to see the status of chest claims in OpenSea by navigating to Levels and checking the “Chests Claimed” section. Make sure to refresh the metadata and wait a few minutes before to be extra safe.

<figure><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/wNx3925zLfL3PxaybBmSJtOsZ9XH0sBWHRjmOqqHsLx3EQ21w-Imf9Iy4OrynjNUeCifkiJyYfDbAldvP0uNwr5D_YToGmxzxTipksJb-TeTqS7IVPRc0ZBneyKBxyKy_JjWiFjKqVKLUpUBJVAC59M-grqPInbklUOjJ4cmEBjhpspIbgLmfCGGnsRXYA" alt=""><figcaption><p>How to check if a chest has been claimed on a pirate</p></figcaption></figure>

#### **Claim Schedule:**&#x20;

Day 7: Founder’s Iron Chest + Founder’s Map Piece #1

Day 30: Founder’s Bronze Chest + Founder's Map Piece #2&#x20;

Day 60: Founder’s Silver Chest + Founder's Map Piece #3&#x20;

Day 90: Founder’s Gold Chest + Founder's Map Piece #4

Day 135: Founder’s Platinum Chest + ???

\*There may be future Founder’s chests announced. If they are, we will update this schedule.

### **How Does it Work?**&#x20;

Captain Kramer (a player) holds his pirates in his wallet and starts playing Pirate Nation. 7 days later, he claims his Iron chest and Founder’s Map Piece #1. On day 25, Captain Kramer, sells his pirate to Captain Elaine (another player), a lucky scoundrel on the open seas. Captain Elaine starts playing and 7 days later, is not eligible to claim the Iron chest or Founder’s Map Piece #1, since Captain Kramer has already claimed it. On Day 30, Captain Elaine is eligible to claim the bronze chest and Founder's Map Piece #2. On day 60, she can claim the Silver chest and Founder’s Map Piece #3, and on day 90, she can claim the final Gold chest and Founder’s Map Piece #4. In order for Captain Elaine to claim the special reward, she will need to collect Founder’s Map Piece #1 for the full set. She decides she really wants the reward so she acquires Founder’s Map Piece #1, and then burns them to reveal a reward.

## Rarity&#x20;

All of our randomness is powered by an in-house randomizer and lives on-chain. There are a few levels of rarity associated with our loot tables for the Founder’s Chests.&#x20;

# Gems

<figure><img src="/files/trvmY5HJDamYO2GPKs7y" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Gems are Pirate Nation’s in-game hard currency and their utilities are sinks for $PIRATE.

Gems are non-transferable, can only be purchased using $PIRATE, and will be used for a number of gameplay-enhancing benefits, such as:

* Purchasing additional energy
* Speeding up timers on certain quests
* Topping off questing & crafting prerequisites
* Participating in certain game modes and events, and more

Gems went live in Pirate Nation at $PIRATE’s TGE.

<figure><img src="/files/6ZJL38xqz0A5qBc1fzCA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Gems can currently only be purchased at <https://piratenation.game/shop> for $PIRATE in 3 quantities. The amount of $PIRATE charged for Gems may be be adjusted by the team at any point in order to ensure balance in gameplay progression and the game economy.

Note that Gems purchases can take 10-15 minutes to show up in your Pirate Nation account.

# VIP

<figure><img src="/files/ZgwV1Q6if8AikzG87HHV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

VIP Passes are now available in the [Pirate Nation Shop](https://piratenation.game/shop) for purchase and they offer several benefits to subscribers. Purchasing with staked $PIRATE will offer the usual 10% discount. VIP can be purchased in increments of 1, 3, and 12 months. Note that the VIP pass is soulbound and must be consumed in the inventory screen in order to access the benefits.

<figure><img src="/files/wIcAlQPtQy6wTuMUOkLa" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Every time a VIP player defeats a Gauntlet battle, they'll receive bonus BOOTY Points and PGLD on top of the rewards they would normally receive.

The BOOTY values for winning each Gauntlet battle are doubled and the PGLD rewards are increased as follows:

| Gauntlet stage | Normal Gauntlet PGLD | Hard Gauntlet PGLD |
| -------------- | -------------------- | ------------------ |
| 1              | +25                  | +50                |
| 2              | +25                  | +50                |
| 3              | +50                  | +75                |
| 4              | +50                  | +125               |
| 5              | +100                 | +200               |

<figure><img src="/files/RbWaW2hqCWsOfEQIj3AQ" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Energy regenerates 25% faster, meaning VIP subscribers can use up to 200 Energy every rolling 24-hour period.

<figure><img src="/files/K1IOQe4qpDexLM36FxH8" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Banana Bill has struck a deal with his monkey crews so that VIP players no longer need to spend Bananas to make use of the Monkey Business building. The only limits on Monkey Business for VIP subscribers will be Energy and Skill levels.

# $PIRATE Rewards

Players can now earn $PIRATE rewards in-game for their achievements. The current offering is the first iteration, with more opportunities to earn $PIRATE in-game in the future.

Currently, you can earn $PIRATE in the game by increasing your Command Rank up to level 5 according to the following schedule:

<figure><img src="/files/ozqNUU9CJzYkuXmTwZCY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Note: Withdrawal of $PIRATE earned in Pirate Nation will be enabled in a future update.&#x20;

We reserve the right to make changes to these terms in the future.

# Legend of Rustbeard

Before he was a terror of the seas, Rustbeard was just a shipwright with a screw loose—
\
A tinkerer. A pirate.
\
He vanished chasing whispers beneath the ocean floor.
\
Now he’s back. Not as a man…
\
But as a machine fueled by pressure, vengeance, and the abyss.

Some say he found an ancient engine beneath the seabed—older than the Isles themselves. Others whisper he became the engine. Whatever the truth… his hull creaks with sorrow, and his eyes glow with endless fury.&#x20;

Rustbeard isn’t just back. He’s evolving.

<figure><img src="/files/a1JcC12oNEV2hYUoxYkb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Players can still open their Lurker Chests for the rewards, but will no longer receive Trophies as the leaderboard has been wound down. Monster Chow can be traded at a 1:1 ratio for PGLD with Flip the Trader.

<figure><img src="/files/1Bvsmvb0J0x2uXLu3Dsi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

These are the rewards possibilities available in every Lurker Chest.

# Proof of Play Arcade

<figure><img src="/files/ZKFIFLKlGgrzJTlwzk7s" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Infinite Tides, the Roguelite Adventure in Pirate Nation, is our most popular game loop. We've retooled it for an even better instant-start experience, the Proof of Play Arcade.

You can find the Proof of Play Arcade here: <https://arcade.piratenation.game/>

# How to Play

<figure><img src="/files/YJA7OqqQrNNzd6tMNwM2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

As of July 31st, the Proof of Play Arcade is now live on Abstract!

To play, you simply need to Buy credits - Play runs - Earn Abstract XP. The first play is free.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/FzdpSzH1Mcm16ssIIHPe" alt="" width="384"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once you have credits purchased, you can choose to use just one credit to get warmed up, or use a bunch to increase your score multiplier in your run. Score multipliers will be the best way to compete for the top spot and maximize your Abstract XP gains.

The Total Run Leaderboard winner will take home a Founder's Pirate in the first week's competition.

# Abstract Wallet & Credits

You need an Abstract wallet or an EVM wallet that supports Abstract to play in the Arcade. Signing in with an EVM will generate an Abstract native wallet for ingame activity, you wil see this wallet address in the account section.

If you previously had a Proof of Play Wallet, make sure to [export to your wallet provider](/important/exporting-your-proof-of-play-wallet-private-key) of choice first, and log in using that wallet.

Use [Relay](https://relay.link/bridge/abstract) to bridge ETH onto your Abstract wallet.

You can purchase credits ingame using ETH, with more methods incoming.&#x20;

# Referrals

<figure><img src="/files/2Odg7sl2bfLgRL4ILRYw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Every player will generate a referral link upon signing in. Share that link with friends and for the next few weeks **EARN 10% OF ALL PURCHASES OF CREDIT (made in ETH)**, automatically from everyone that signs up to play with your link.

# Characters & their Ships

<figure><img src="/files/tDhiJ8PfKSy8v3tCkVEd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Arcade currently features 9 distinct characters. Each one has their own ship with a specific set of base cards. Not to be underestimated, each character has the makings of an adventure filled lore.

For content creators and lore lovers alike, you can access the creator kit [here](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_j4_RExHisItvg2OFMShn4fW9hQ0R31E?usp=sharing).

**Lady Lara**\
A bold tactician with a sharp eye and sharper tongue, Lady Lara commands every battle with unshakable poise and perfectly aimed cannon fire. Her ship, ***The Floating Fortress***, is a heavily armored juggernaut built to outlast and outgun anything on the sea.

# BOOTY Points Season 1: Jolly Roger

This page is now archived as Season 1 ended on June 10, 2024

Pirate Nation is proud to launch the new Jolly Roger campaign, in which our players can play the game and complete social challenges to earn BOOTY Points, the exclusive recognition system for players and collectors in the Pirate Nation ecosystem.

Season 1 starts on Thursday, April 11.

<figure><img src="/files/lDCIU7vQ0cq39DZZSVUi" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Live quests are available now on our Season 1 portal: <https://piratenation.game/booty/s1>.

We have a variety of challenges you can complete to earn BOOTY Points each and every day. The first set of quests available for the Jolly Roger include:

* completing Easy & Hard Gauntlets
* crafting new Ships
* leveling up your Pirate(s)
* holding Founder's Pirates and/or a Gen1 Pirate

The quests page will routinely update and offer new quests for Pirates to complete. Be sure to check back every day to earn BOOTY Points, complete quests, and see what new opportunities to earn have dropped.

Jolly Roger will regularly feature tweets from the Pirate Nation and teams' accounts to engage with and earn BOOTY Points. After you engage with the tweet, return to the quests page to verify the actions. You'll receive your due BOOTY within 15 minutes.

There are also Discord quests awarding BOOTY Points. Currently, the quests reward participants for changing their Discord name to include "Pirate" and their Discord profile picture to one of the 8 options provided in the Jolly Roger quests board and posting "GM" in the specified main channels in partner Discord servers.

Pirates can multiply their BOOTY earnings in two ways: holding multiple Founder's Pirates and completing quests every day to form a streak. BOOTY Points will be tallied up to produce a leaderboard, with the top 10 earning bonus BOOTY, and all players achieving ranks based on their totals, as below:

You won't want to miss out on BOOTY Points, Pirates.

# Trade Licenses

Everything you need to know about Trade Licenses in Pirate Nation

**Trade Licenses are launching in Pirate Nation in September 2023.** Their purpose is to act as a mechanism that allows a player to sell items & $PGLD they earn in Pirate Nation.\
\
By introducing Trade Licenses into the game, we have a simple and effective lever to control the time at which new free-to-play (F2P) players earn the right to fully participate in the in-game economy and to combat bots and sybil attacks by future F2P players or external bad actors.\
\
We are rolling Trade Licenses out to holders of Founder’s Pirates via a snapshot. We will apply a flag to snapshotted wallets so they remain ‘unlocked’ and can continue trading uninterrupted immediately. We will airdrop Trade Licenses to wallets holding more than 1 Founder’s Pirate.\
\
There are a few pieces to this, so let’s break it down.\ <br>

**F2P**\
\
We have ambitious plans for Pirate Nation and are building towards a game that can attract millions of new players. To accomplish this, we’ve carefully crafted a growth plan that achieves “expansion without dilution” - ensuring we can simultaneously grow while preserving the special nature of our genesis collection, the Founder’s Pirates.\
\
Currently, to access Pirate Nation, you must own a Founder’s Pirate (our genesis collection) NFT. But when we launch F2P mode, new players will be able to enter the game by creating a (temporarily) soulbound Pirate as their playable character.\
\
These new players will only be able to purchase (‘import’) items & $PGLD, and won’t be able to sell (‘export’) anything, until they either purchase a Trade License, or earn one by reaching Command Rank 10, in which case it is automatically applied to their account. See important notes below for further detail / nuance on this.\
\
To learn more about other differences between Founder’s Pirates (our genesis collection) and Pirates (the upcoming collection for F2P players), check out this thread we’ve published on Twitter: <https://twitter.com/PirateNationNFT/status/1689377487216902145?s=20>

**TRADE LICENSE SNAPSHOT & AIRDROP**\
\
At the time of the snapshot, every wallet containing a Founder’s Pirate will effectively “get a trade license”, but there’s an important difference whether the wallet holds just a single Pirate, or multiple Pirates.\
\
To ensure the game continues to function as intended, wallets with a single Founder’s Pirate will automatically have their Trade License applied to them. \
\
In effect, this means they won’t receive an airdrop, but rather, will have a ‘flag’ set to their wallet address in our game contracts, ensuring that the wallet can continue to trade (buy & sell items) in Pirate Nation without any interruption. This ensures that all wallets currently holding at least a single Founder’s Pirate are ‘unlocked’, and can continue to enjoy the game without any disturbance, and without needing to take any action.\
\
For wallets holding 2 or more Founder’s Pirates, they will also have their first Trade License automatically applied, but they will be entitled to 1 Trade License per each additional Founder’s Pirate they have. These Trade License(s) will be airdropped to their wallet, as a tradeable NFT on Proof of Play Apex.

<figure><img src="/files/UBcUAMTSaZfyfuBYl4uE" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Let’s summarize this with examples:**\
\
Wallet with 1 Pirate ➜ Unlocked, but doesn't receive Trade License.

Wallet with 2 Pirates ➜ Unlocked, and receives 1 Trade License.

Wallet with 5 Pirates ➜ Unlocked, and receives 4 additional Trade Licenses.

Wallet with 7 Pirates ➜ Unlocked, and receives 6 additional Trade Licenses.\
\
Players receiving additional Trade Licenses may choose to sell them if they so wish. But keep in mind that these airdropped Trade Licenses are deflationary. Once they are applied to an account (wallet), they are burned and can no longer be traded. So plan accordingly!

**IMPORTANT NOTES**\
\
There are a few important things to call out about the Trade License system, and F2P.\
\
**1. New buyers of Founder’s Pirates after the snapshot date, will need a Trade License in order to sell the items they earn in the game.** After the snapshot is taken, owning a Founder’s Pirate won’t in of itself entitle a new owner to sell items or $PGLD they earn in the game. That’s because Trade Licenses are applied to the wallet, not to the Founder’s Pirate(s) within them. This important piece of information will be incorporated into our onboarding materials for people who purchase Founder’s Pirates on the secondary market.\
\
**2. When F2P players buy or earn their Trade License, they’ll be able to sell items, but won’t be able to sell or transfer their Pirate - it will still be soulbound.** Having a Trade License allows F2P players to trade their items, gold, and ships, but not their Pirate itself, which will stay soulbound until they earn their Voxel Soul. What’s a Voxel Soul you ask, and how do F2P players earn it? That’s a tale for a later time!\
\
**3. When F2P players earn their Trade License, they won't receive it in the form of an item, instead it'll be applied to their account automatically.** Once F2P players reach Command Rank 10, their account will be automatically unlocked and they'll gain the ability to sell items they earn in the Pirate Nation economy. They will not receive a separate Trade License item during this process. This means the Trade License airdrop for wallets holding 2 or more Founder's Pirates, taking place after the snapshot on Monday, September 11, 2023, will be the only set of tradeable Trade License items in the Pirate Nation economy. \
\
**4. NFT marketplaces aren’t natively friendly to soulbound items, as they allow unsellable items to still be listed, but we have a solution.** Our community has rightly raised the point that soulbound items can still be listed on marketplaces like OpenSea. This causes a problem because it allows people to list unsellable items at very low prices, and annoys buyers who can’t purchase said items. This isn’t sea-worthy. So we’ve crafted a technical solution, which stops F2P players from being able to list items for sale, while they are still soulbound. We’ll share more about how we’ve been able to accomplish this in a separate thread!\
\
**5. F2P roll out will be in phases.** While all of the above is quite exciting, and we are getting Pirate Nation ready to acquire new players, we want to remind everyone that this will happen incrementally, in phases. The game is still young, and we’re working to improve existing in-game systems & launch new ones. We’ll be scaling up our player base over time, rather than all at once. Please continue to be your usual awesome & highly welcoming selves as new players come aboard - whether through ownership of a Founder’s Pirate, or as a F2P player!

# Leaderboard

Visible at <https://piratenation.game/leaderboard>, the Leaderboard tracks how much Pirate Gold that a given pirate obtains from questing. Future leaderboards will obtain additional information.

There are All-Time leaderboards, Daily leaderboards, and Competition leaderboards.

The Competition leaderboards reset every-other Sunday at 00:00 UTC. These 14-day contests award the top 25 Gold-earning Founder's Pirates with a series of increasingly better prizes ranging from Tier 1-3 resources and maps, to craftable and rare items.&#x20;

# About our Tech

The inventive engineers behind Pirate Nation are taking a few approaches to our tech for us to summarize. Look to our Medium for more in-depth posts about the technical side of Pirate Nation (see [Official Links](https://docs.piratenation.game/important/official-links-and-email)).

Things to know:

* **Everything is onchain**: all items, currencies, game logic are built using smart-contracts. This also means that the game will continue to run even if original Pirate Nation developers are no longer around.
* Pirates live on L1 (Ethereum) with Gameplay on L2 (Apex) without needing to bridge.
* Pirates and Ships are ERC721s, meaning they are dynamic and can gain abilities over time.
* Items and Resources (Cotton, Rum, Statues, Totems, etc.) are ERC1155s.
* Pirate Gold ($PGLD) is an ERC20.
* Gameplay on Proof of Play Apex.
* [Halborn](https://halborn.com/), a top tier auditing firm, audited all of our game code to ensure all of our contracts are safe and reliable.
  * You can view the audit [here](https://piratenation.game/home_assets/Proof_of_Play_Pirate_Nation_Smart_Contract_Security_Audit_Report_Halborn.pdf).

# Wallet Popup-Free and Gas-less Gameplay

No transaction fees or repetitive pop-ups.

As we were playtesting the game, we found the constant pop ups to be really repetitive and a blocker to enjoyable gameplay. If you’re used to playing normal mobile or web games, you aren’t asked to confirm a transaction every time you want to click a button. And because we decided to put the entire game onchain, there were a lot of pop-ups! We wanted to get rid of them for the players to have a more seamless and natural gameplay experience. The solution was adding a game wallet that performs these transactions for you.

***What is a game wallet?***&#x20;

A game wallet is a custodial wallet stored in your browser’s local storage. Unlike your Metamask wallet, you will not have control over your private keys so if you clear your local storage or cache, the wallet and its contents will be deleted.

***Why do I need a game wallet?***&#x20;

We didn’t want our players to have to pay or confirm a transaction in your wallet every time they clicked a button in the game.

***Is it safe?***&#x20;

Yes, it’s safe because there’s nothing of value stored in the game wallet. Items you gather during gameplay are sent to your personal wallet directly and never pass through the game wallet.&#x20;

You are not granting any permissions on the wallet holding your pirates to move or transfer any pirates or other assets. You are only allowing Pirate Nation to pay for the gas and confirm gameplay transactions within the Pirate Nation contracts on your behalf.

***Wait, you’re paying for my gas on Proof of Play Apex?***&#x20;

Yup! You’re welcome.

***What if I don’t want a game wallet?***&#x20;

In the future, we may offer the opportunity for players to choose, but right now we made this decision to eliminate two major points of friction: needing to have ETH on Proof of Play Apex to pay for gas and too many confirmation pop-ups.

***Are you transferring my beloved pirates to this game wallet?***&#x20;

Nope, your pirates are staying in whatever wallet you acquired them in and will remain safe as long as you don’t click on any suspicious links. (Don’t be like BAYC holders and use a hardware wallet for your pirates.)

***What other projects use game wallets?***&#x20;

As far as we know, no other games are doing this yet and we’re excited to push the space forward by removing friction to onchain gameplay. We hope that others will copy and build off this innovation and follow us into a fully decentralized world.

***What happens if I change my browser or clear my cache?***&#x20;

You will be prompted to authorize a new game wallet. The game wallet never holds any of your game items or Pirates. Clearing your cache does not put any of your assets at risk.

***Is the contract audited?***&#x20;

The contract has been audited by Halborn and can be viewed [here](https://piratenation.game/home_assets/Proof_of_Play_Pirate_Nation_Smart_Contract_Security_Audit_Report_Halborn.pdf).

***What’s actually happening from a technical perspective?***&#x20;

We create a secondary wallet for the player and have them authorize it in our game contracts to perform actions on their behalf. This way transactions can be signed in the background, without the player having to worry about confirming individual transactions or the security of the assets inside their wallet.

***What else should I know?***&#x20;

There is no reason for you to really interact with the "burner" wallet and it will fade into the background after the one-time confirmation. You should not transfer tokens or pirates into this wallet because clearing your local storage / cache will eliminate the "burner" wallet. If you do this, whatever you had transferred in will be gone because you don’t have access to the private keys.

# Lore of the Infinite Isles

<figure><img src="/files/A9zRrBoTvDzUNDTF9hnV" alt=""><figcaption><p>Welcome to the Infinite Isles</p></figcaption></figure>

Avast me hearties!

Captain Hightide here to spin ye some Pirate tales.

On the horizon lies a vast chain of islands set in a fantastic world of pirates, monsters, high seas adventure and treasure! Here, Pirate lords build strongholds, gather crews, and construct their armadas of ships as they explore uncharted waters.

Alas, they are not alone! Corrupt trade guilds look to claim the resources of the isles for themselves, a royal navy seeks to establish its own version of law and order, other Pirate lords seek to lay claim to legendary hidden treasures, creatures from the depths seek to claim territory for themselves, and many other forces seek to dominate these waters.

The Lore of the Infinite Isles is dedicated to exploring notable figures, intriguing places, treasures, ships, and events that weave together to tell the all the stories of Pirate Nation.

#### **Parrot's Perch**

This island is a small settlement that acts as a safe haven and trading outpost for many salty Pirates. The island is filled with useful locations all Pirates should know. Here are a few to visit:

#### Trader Flip's

Flip, the friendly Deep One, has set up a shop on the southwest corner of the island. He loves to trade resources, but he asks for pretty high prices. For those looking to land a quick deal, he is an excellent choice.

#### **The Totem of the Sea Titans**

This statue sits idle most of the time, but when Sea Titans are nearby, it comes to life with a thrum of power. During these "World Boss" events, this totem guides Pirates who are ~~dumb~~ brave enough to battle these powerful beasts to their location.

# Figures of Note

These be some noteworthy figures in the Infinite Isles

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/7HlHHsli8ABReqR0Xa9H" alt="" width="188"><figcaption><p>Captain Hightide</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Captain Hightide**

Resident of Parrots Perch, local drunk and part-time Pirate guide. He's the narrator of the Lore of the Infinite Isles.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/SYX97wlELBH7rzXXVFh0" alt="" width="188"><figcaption><p>The Banshee Bandit</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **The Banshee Bandit —** *Captain of the Banshee’s Wail*

It’s said that the temperature drops and a chill can be felt in your bones when her phantom galleon approaches. Just before the battle commences, there is an unnatural silence that mutes all sounds until only a single heartbeat can be heard: the heart of the Banshee Bandit. Then the silence is broken by a blood-curdling scream, followed by the roar of cannons, and the battle is on!

Those who have traded cannon fire with the *Banshee's Wail* and managed to escape to tell the tale say that the Banshee’s vessel is extremely elusive. Those who have had any success against her claim to have used attacks that target an area, rather than aiming directly at the ghostly galleon itself.

The Banshee herself appears to be a specter that wears a fine white dress and carries a heart-shaped gem, gently caressing it with her hands. Her face is a mask of sadness and mourning yet, after the battle begins, her anger knows no bounds. She has been raiding the Infinite Isles for hundreds of years and — even though her vessel has supposedly been sunk several times — it never stays on the ocean floor for long.

Not much is currently known about Old Ironside.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/WPG0Geme2XZHt6sDY7Kj" alt="" width="188"><figcaption><p>Rustbeard</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### Rustbeard the Mecha-Rogue

A formidable automaton Pirate lord, Rustbeard was once a technological marvel built by the finest tinkerers of the Infinite Isles. With a hull of tarnished metal and gears that whispered tales of plunder, he swiftly became the bane of trade ships, his mechanical precision leaving no room for error. Though his origins remain shrouded in mystery, every sailor knows the telltale clinking of his approach and they whisper cautionary tales of the relentless machine who sails with neither rest nor remorse.

### **BoBo —&#x20;*****Monkey Totem***

This odd totem is carved in the likeness of the great monkey Pirate BoBo. Adopted and raised by pirates from a young age, BoBo learned to act and behave like a true Pirate. After a shipwreck left him alone, he returned to the jungle and recruited an all-simian crew. Bobo and his pack of primate Pirates then stole a ship and spent years raiding unsuspecting towns and trade ships up and down the jungle coast. Wherever BoBo and his crew went, a scarcity of bananas followed. It is said that BoBo eventually retired to an island plantation. Still, from time to time, the unmistakable yellow sails of his grand pirate ship *Dreadpeel* can be seen on the horizon, stalking a merchant vessel that was unfortunate enough to bear a cargo of fresh fruit.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/PwwHo05gVVAFtZHDumpB" alt="" width="188"><figcaption><p>Glitterfin Totem</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Glitterfin —&#x20;*****Goldfish Totem***

This totem honors Captain Glitterfin, the goldfish Pirate lord! "A goldfish Pirate?" you ask. "How would that even work?" Well, friend, trust me when I say it does. Captain Glitterfin is a unique pirate lord who terrorizes the high seas from a little bowl atop a massive frigate. One well-known fact about Glitterfin and his crew is that they often attack the same ship repeatedly, forgetting that they struck the same unfortunate vessel just moments before. So if you ever see a fearsome frigate flying the powder blue flag with a little goldfish on the horizon, it's best to raise anchor and hope you can outrun it or that something else catches its captain’s attention before it reaches you. Blub, blub.

### **Trader Flip**

Flip once served in an army of Deep Ones, under the command of some Old God that lives in the abyssal depths. He was compelled to attack pirates and claim the Infinite Island in this Old Gods name. However, after many years of fighting he grew tired of the pursuit of conquest. Through a string of inscrutable incidents, he won his freedom from the grip of the Old God and found his way to Parrot's Perch. There he used his ability to plumb the depths to collect rare objects and, using the gold earned from fencing those objects, he started his trading business for all Pirates to purvey.

# Grand Events

## **The Forgotten Gods Event**

Three gods that have long been forgotten seek validation from the pirates of this new generation. Three voices from the past whisper through the Infinite Isles: "Seek ye the relics of our visage and build for us the idols of our faith so that one of us may return unto you and bestow our blessings."

And with this, the Pirates of the Infinite Isles began their quest to restore their chosen.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/BmYTbuo02LnuyMY3epfd" alt="" width="114"><figcaption><p>Broseph Totem</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Broseph**

Broseph, the jovial twin deities of drink and jest, were once the heart and soul of every raucous gathering on the Infinite Isles. With one brother pouring endless libations and the other spouting tales that blurred the line between humor and sheer absurdity, they were the patrons of every tavern brawl and boozy night under the stars.

As time passed, and tales of their escapades became as diluted as the watered-down rum of old, their statues were lost to time. For many decades, they seemed to slumber, though the echo of their laughter still occasionally drifted across the Isles' moonlit nights.

During an event dubbed the Forgotten Gods, the brothers appeared to recover from their ancient hangover and sought to start a new party with the denizens of the Infinite Isles. They reached out to the Pirates of the Infinite Isles and, led by the pirate **Captain** **Dizcrypto**, they were accepted by the Pirate Nation once more. Now the spirit of Broseph is strong once again and Pirates everywhere raise toasts in their name!

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/n7olJjHee6qYdx7fDnHj" alt="" width="152"><figcaption><p>Dealer Totem</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **The Dealer**

The Dealer, an enigmatic goddess of luck and fortune, was once the beacon of hope for every pirate seeking treasures in the shadowy coves of the Infinite Isles. Adorned with cards, dice, and shimmering coins, she held the fate of every gamble and the outcome of every plunder within her ever-shuffling hands.

The Dealer loved to gamble, but she didn't expect to lose the bet with a rival where the loser had to fall silent for 1,000 years. Without the ability to communicate with or bless her worshipers, they strayed to find other gods and the Dealer slipped into obscurity.

During the event known as the Forgotten Gods, she made her play to return to the table once again. However, despite the valiant efforts of **Captains** **Jack\_Tagger** and **onOtole**, she failed to gain enough followers and fell silent once more. She is no doubt still present in the Infinite Isles—every top-decked ace to a straight hints at that—but she remains quiet at this time.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/dlw3wTb1FWMgIjVhjXWT" alt="" width="76"><figcaption><p>Old Salt Totem</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Old Salt**

Old Salt, the enigmatic god of the sea, was once the guiding force for every sailor and Pirate who navigated the treacherous waters of the Infinite Isles. With skin as weathered as ancient driftwood and eyes that mirrored the deepest ocean abyss, he was believed to govern the tides, winds, and fortunes of those daring enough to venture onto his waters. However, as the ages passed and newer deities emerged, Old Salt's temples were reclaimed by the sea, and his legends faded into whispered tales shared by elders around flickering campfires.

Following the fall of an ancient Sea Titan known as Bruce the Megalodon, Old Salt awoke and seemed interested in recruiting a new crew to worship him and the old ways. However, after weeks of rallying support during the Forgotten Gods Event behind his lead avatar **Captain Gwes#2473**, Old Salt failed to recruit enough Pirates to allow him to reemerge and fell silent in the depths once more. No one has heard from him since the day that event ended, but believers in the old ways know he is still about, and he will return to port one day to bring the old ways back to the sailors of the Infinite Isles.

## Sea Titans Tussle Event (World Bosses)

{% embed url="<https://files.piratenation.game/pirates-web-ts/assets/serpent_teaser.mp4>" %}
Triple Threat World Boss Event Teaser
{% endembed %}

The tale of the Pirates of Parrot's Perch and their encounter with three ancient Sea Titans is one of daring adventure and harrowing danger. It's a testament to the unpredictable and treacherous nature of the Infinite Isles.

Awakening such powerful beings was undoubtedly a grave mistake, but the pirates showed their mettle by rallying together in the face of imminent danger. Their resilience and determination, coupled with their skill in combat, allowed them to achieve the near-impossible feat of defeating one of the Sea Titans, Bruce.

However, the threat is far from over. With two Sea Titans still lurking in the depths, the pirates must remain ever vigilant. It's a reminder of the importance of respecting the natural order and the dangers of delving too greedily or too deep into territories unknown.

The Pirates of Parrot's Perch have proven themselves to be formidable adversaries, but they must now use this victory as a learning experience. They must bolster their defenses, seek out allies, and be prepared for any future encounters with the remaining Sea Titans.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/IgXlW35ZbZ8of0EFvSnB" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Bruce the Sea Titan</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Bruce the Megaladon**

1 of the 3 Sea Titans that attacked the Infinite Isle in March of 2023. Bruce is a fierce Megalodon that was defeated by the combined might of the Pirate Nation! The final blow that defeated this Sea Titan was delivered by the legendary **Captain Roninnupe**, who now keeps this once fierce beast as a pet that he displays to other Pirates as proof of his combat prowess.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/8e83qh86Ql35oFqSV12b" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Urze the Sea Titan</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Urza the Kraken**

1 of the 3 Sea Titans that attacked the Infinite Isle in March of 2023. This magma mollusk managed to slink away after terrorizing the Pirate population for several days. Many fear that the ill-tempered octopus will return one day to seek vengeance for his fallen brethren.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/UCYVKDwrd2ciP6AkYYtQ" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Jormungandr the Sea Titan</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Jormungandr the Sea Serpent**

Jorgy, as he was nicknamed by the Pirates of that time, is a Lighting Serpent that was 1 of the 3 Sea Titans that attacked the Infinite Isle in March of 2023. This shocking sea snake managed to slither away after terrorizing the Pirate population for several days. Many fear ithat Jorgy now lurks in the storms that surround Parrots Perch and that it will return to strike fear in the hearts of the Pirate Nation again one day.

# Factions

### **The Array**

A collation of several robotic clans that have banded together to form an unparallelled mecha-pirate armada that is intent on controlling the Infinite Isles.&#x20;

### **The Deep Ones**

The Deep Ones live in the ocean trenches of the sea. From time to time, they venture forth to attack surface dwellers and their ships. Some say they serve an old, long-forgotten god that wanders in the abyssal depths. What they are truly after or want is unknown.

### **King Neptune and the Merfolk**

The merfolk are mostly a neutral faction, choosing to play in the waves rather than make war with the other factions. There are occasional skirmishes; I mean, they have some nice stuff, so naturally, Pirates 'visit' them whenever they can.

### **The Royal Navy**

The enemy of piracy in all its forms, this organization seeks to settle the Infinite Isles and bring its residents under their iron-fist form of governance. No gambling, no roughhousing, no drinking — no thank you! To date, the Royal Navy has not discovered Parrot's Perch, but it is only a matter of time before it trains its spyglasses on the island and, when that day comes, Pirates will have a new force to reckon with.

### **Sea Spectres**

The undead aren't all bad. Many have adjusted to life well and settled into well-adjusted roles or even joined in Piracy, alongside other activities in the Infinite Isles. However, there are some that hold onto their anger from their previous lives and seek targets to unleash it upon. These lost, angry souls often join the Sea Spectres and sail the Infinite Isles in search of victims to defeat and plunder.

### **The Sea Titans**

Not so much a faction as a classification. These huge beasts of old occasionally stir and return to wreak havoc on the Infinite Isles.

### **Westmarch Trade Company**

The Westmarch Trade Company is the largest trade company in all the seas. Its intent is to harvest all the resources from the Infinite Isles for itself and exploit those resources for its own gains. Like locusts, it would strip anything of value and leave the Isles a barren wasteland.

# $PIRATE FAQs

# What is $PIRATE?

$PIRATE is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum mainnet and one of the first uses of the $PIRATE token is to serve as a utility token for the Pirate Nation ecosystem.

<figure><img src="/files/F3m3DfoyL2ASQVxhvjP4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Over time $PIRATE may be used for all sorts of fun and functional activities within the game, expanding the possibilities of players and guilds in crafting and customization, and providing access to exclusive tournaments and unique game modes or events. When significant new choices, items, or dynamics are added to the game (examples: larger player islands, able to accommodate new settlement buildings, or new types of bidding / special auction events for premier, unique game assets), $PIRATE may be used as the necessary currency to enable said new dynamic.

The single most important design principle of the $PIRATE token is ensuring Pirate Nation is made better, and more engaging, through its existence. It’s with this in mind that we will design, optimize, and evolve its uses and sinks within Pirate Nation.

More information can be found in the Pirate Nation Foundation litepaper: <https://www.piratenation.foundation/PN%20Foundation%20Litepaper_v1.1.02_June2024.pdf>.

The $PIRATE contract addresses are:

* Token: 0x7613C48E0cd50E42dD9Bf0f6c235063145f6f8DC
* Staking: 0x6759aCD57cB5EA451a3eDF397734eDDDFc123049

# Claiming and Staking $PIRATE

#### Claiming

<figure><img src="/files/u6Ppmt1VFjf5M8PrCvHW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Players can claim their $PIRATE allocations at the Pirate Nation Foundation site: <https://piratenation.foundation>.

Players who did not qualify automatically for an allocation of $PIRATE were entered into a raffle with a 10% chance to win.

#### Staking

<figure><img src="/files/5uXy7yXOyGvfvzGReEiw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

At the time of its launch, players are able to stake $PIRATE to earn Proof of Play Points, which hold a role in recognizing and rewarding early supporters & participants in the Proof of Play ecosystem. Immediate staking at the time of claim is incentivized with a +50% multiplier.

Early staking is also incentivized, with large multipliers that can be locked in by staking soon after the TGE date. Long-term staking is encouraged by keeping the multiplier in place for all Proof of Play Points accrued, until a withdrawal happens. Staking $PIRATE using the same wallet holding Founder's Pirate NFTs will accrue an additional 700,000 Proof of Play Points per day per Founder's Pirate held.

# How to deposit ETH into your PoP wallet

In order to claim, spend, and stake your $PIRATE, you will need ETH in your wallet to cover gas fees on the Ethereum network. If you’re using the wallet service provided by Proof of Play and not your own wallet (such as Metamask or Rabby), then you will need to follow these steps.

**Collect Wallet Address**

1. Visit <https://piratenation.game/me>.&#x20;
2. Copy the long number and letter sequence on the page starting with and including the “0x”
3. Save this information for reference later

**Buy Ethereum**

1. If you don’t already have ETH in another wallet, you will need to purchase some on a centralized exchange (or have a friendly Pirate send you some.)
2. Open an account with a major centralized exchange such as [Coinbase](http://coinbase.com), [Bybit](https://www.bybit.com/en/), [Robinhood](https://robinhood.com/us/en/about/crypto/?source=google_sem\&utm_source=google\&utm_campaign=12057657002\&utm_content=114123378417\&utm_term=658217164217__robinhood%20crypto__e\&utm_medium=cpc\&gad_source=1\&gclid=CjwKCAjwyJqzBhBaEiwAWDRJVCDYJ-ywVrFG1PU3STH0SiBPZazMVzXa3Taxfen2e7QzVtd_LPKI8xoCvTgQAvD_BwE), or [Binance](https://www.binance.com/en).&#x20;
3. Purchase Ether/ETH.

**Send Ethereum to Your PoP Wallet**

1. Every exchange will have different instructions but copy and paste the wallet address collected in Step 1 and send ETH to that address on the Ethereum Network.&#x20;
2. Note: if you send ETH to a network that is not Ethereum, it will not work. Make sure you only purchase and send ETH on the Ethereum network.

To confirm that your ETH was transferred successfully, visit Zapper and enter in your wallet address: <https://zapper.xyz/account/WALLET\\_ADDRESS\\_HERE>

**Claim $PIRATE**

1. Visit piratenation.foundation
2. Follow the instructions to claim $PIRATE

**FAQs**

Q: How much ETH do I need to buy?

A: In order to determine how much ETH you will need, we recommend making your plans for staking and spending in advance and using this [gas tracker from Etherscan](https://etherscan.io/gastracker) to project how much you’ll need. On Etherscan, you’ll see average gas fees expressed in dollars. You may need to run a handful of $PIRATE transactions early on, so having $20-$30 should be sufficient for a good while unless gas fees spike when you’re attempting to claim, stake, or spend your $PIRATE.<br>

![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXfypRnv9ZwK2zU1J_uvZouEQBsCbJQvhdDMEthrfVljzlQH_QJsl1N9NQY47IPS6tg2NTh6ZRBy6uG7RmTREGOlwD9Z4kUOz1h2K3Xbyshy6A66JnBV4w5djusGekrNzcboaQ5UgVF59br31EviQVXIDSQ?key=ttaQTQYc6M_tvSF8pgbMUg)

The current estimate for gas fees is between $5 and $10 USD worth of ETH, although this could go higher if the network faces elevated traffic.

Once you have a sufficient ETH balance in your PoP wallet, you’ll be free to claim, stake, and spend your $PIRATE however you like!

Q: How can I transfer my $PIRATE from my PoP Wallet?

A: Right now that is not supported. The team is working on the ability to export wallets.

# Multichain

Pirate Nation is a fully onchain game, meaning that all of the game logic and history are recorded on a blockchain. However, any given blockchain has a hard limit to how much throughput it can process, both in terms of data and transaction volume.

In order for the game to one day scale to millions of players, Pirate Nation initially migrated to the Apex chain in February 2024, a custom-built blockchain designed to scale processing for an onchain game. Following that, Pirate Nation incorporated a second blockchain dubbed Boss, making it the world's first-ever multichain game in August 2024.

<figure><img src="/files/IglWwH6nvDlNVImlJFGR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Boss FAQs

* What is the Boss chain? What is multichain?
  * Pirate Nation is a fully onchain game, meaning all of the game’s logic and data run on blockchains. Given the volume of data getting processed onchain, the game has far exceeded the capacity of any one blockchain, including Proof of Play Apex, leading us to build a solution for one game to operate across multiple chains (multichain). Boss is the second blockchain from Proof of Play and the first step in launching and using multichain for Pirate Nation.
* I signed up for Boss. Do I need to do anything else?
  * After we launch Boss and complete our backend processes, you will only need to sign in to Pirate Nation as you normally do to resume playing. You won’t need to do anything separate or special if you’re on the Boss chain.
* Can I still transition to Boss?
  * Currently, there is no plan to allow more players to transition to Boss.
* How will Boss differ from Apex?
  * Beyond the players on each chain, there will be no difference in gameplay experience between players on Apex or on Boss. There are some limitations with the first version of the multichain: Shipwrights and Islands will not be immediately available for players on different chains. Only players on Apex will be able to visit each other’s Islands and use each other’s Shipwrights and the same is true for Boss, but this will not be the case forever.
* Is there a block explorer?
  * Yes: <https://explorer-proofofplay-boss-mainnet.t.conduit.xyz>. We don’t have plans to backfill Apex data for Boss.
* Do I need to bridge ETH from Apex to Boss?
  * No, you’ll be able to transact with ETH on either Proof of Play blockchain and purchase items from players on either chain.
* Can I bridge ETH to Boss?
  * Yes, you will be able to bridge to the Proof of Play Boss chain using Relay. We’re working on enabling more options, including Orbiter.
* How will the Proof of Play Marketplace work with the different chains?
  * The marketplace is configured to provide a unified experience for players, regardless of the chain they’re playing on.
* Will there be more blockchains? Will we need to bridge to new chains?
  * In order to grow the game and scale to millions of players, we’ll launch new chains as needed to provide for that growth. However, we’ll most likely not open any new windows for moving chains; we’ll simply activate the new chain for new signups.
* Will the Apex and Boss have different Gauntlets or shared maps for Exploration?
  * No, they will all be the same. We will not differentiate the game experience by chain.
* Can the Boss chain handle the same player count as Apex?
  * Apex and Boss are essentially twins, built with the same functionality and scale. They will be able to handle similar amounts of users and will continue to get upgraded to handle more per chain as we go.
* How will the distribution of players work with the multiple chains?
  * Players will not switch back and forth between blockchains and new players will either go to the Boss chain or the C-named chain that will launch next. Apex players will stay on Apex, while Boss players will stay on Boss, carrying forward with all new Proof of Play chains launching in the future.
* Will new chains be easier to launch?
  * Yes! Using lessons learned and infrastructure built for Boss and the first version of multichain, we’ll be able to more easily and rapidly iterate multichain and set up new blockchains to expand the player base.
* If I have made offers/listings on the Apex right now, will they remain when my account is moved to Boss?
  * Players who move to Boss will need to redo their listings and offers.

Anti-goals of the program are (1) artificial hype or speculation that could mislead the market, and (2) to create, attract, or be involved in any negativity - ‘drama’ or otherwise offensive or divisive content that brings you, or by extension, Pirate Nation or Proof of Play, into disrepute.

#### 💡 Future changes

Expect this program to change & evolve based on feedback and data. Like everything we do, we aim to continuously iterate & improve, the more feedback you provide, the more you can be part of this process!

# Fair Play Rules

## Overview

We are trying to build a game that will survive the test of time. To achieve that we all need to have some degree of trust that the game is a fair one. Violations of the spirit of the game diminish trust and overall stability of Pirate Nation.

We aim to cultivate a sustainable, player-driven economy. Behaviors that excessively extract resources from the current closed beta environment undermine the game's long-term health.

As such, we will define some guidelines for future reference working toward both goals in the sections following.

Moving forward we will:

* Punish players who break the rules for personal gain
* Reward players who uphold the rules for community gain

## **Acceptable Behavior**

**Social Organization**. Discussing which World Boss to target to increase collective odds of victory.

*Web3 games are inherently social, this is to be expected and embraced.*

**Contract Data Mining.** Reading the publicly available information onchain and in published smart contracts. Using known data about the game to develop tools to help others play the game.

*Web3 games are inherently more transparent with data, this is to be expected and embraced.*

## **Unacceptable Behavior**

**Technical Exploits.** Client Hacking, DDoS Attacking, Double Spending, Smart Contract Exploits, and any other similar exploits.

**Social Exploits:** Phishing, Scamming other players into unintentionally giving away private keys, resources, or other game assets.

**Self-referring:** Using your own referral code to generate new accounts and accrue referral-related reward points is not allowed. Doing so may risk punitive action, including a potential loss of related points and referrals.

**Sharing & Self-Trading Ships or Founder's Pirates:** Selling ships or Founder Pirates is allowed, but trading a ship or Founder Pirate to an alt account or a fellow player with the goal of ranking on a leaderboard in an event or challenge will be closely monitored. Players may face penalties if found utilizing this to exploit leaderboards and other challenges.&#x20;

**Alt accounts:** While playing with multiple accounts is permitted, players may only earn ranked rewards in PvP events once for the top 1000 places. Secondary accounts in the top 1000 will not receive ranked rewards.

**Anti-competitive gameplay:** Players found to be coordinating or intentionally rigging the outcomes of competitive game features will risk disqualification from rewards. This includes, but is not limited to, sandbagging, early quitting/fleeing in PvP, or coordinating combat choices with your opponent.

## **Sybil**

**Unacceptable: Sybil Attacks.** We reserve the right to investigate and take action upon any account believed to primarily extract resources, or that is otherwise behaving as part of a sybil network. Factors considered include manipulating events through multi-accounting or wash trading, resource acquisition rate, transfers off-platform, exchange sales, and more. Penalties will scale with the degree of coordinated exploitation detected through investigations.

**Acceptable: Multi-Accounting.** Users are free to create as many personal accounts as they want, but please note that only 1 account can be logged in at a time.

## **Bots & Scripting**

As an onchain game, we distinguish between two types of bots: Gameplay Bots and Onchain Bots.

**Acceptable: Onchain Bots, Onchain Calls.** In web3 these use public-facing smart contract calls and APIs to interface with components of the game. We acknowledge their existence and take measures to ensure they don't disrupt the game's fairness and stability.

**Unacceptable: Gameplay Bots, Client Injection.** These automate traditional games and go against our priority of creating a fair game experience for humans. Therefore, we do not allow their use, and players caught using them may face penalties or account banning.

In both cases, any bot violating the terms of service will be subject to the same consequences as human players. We strive to design and use technologies that enable fair challenges and equal opportunities for all players.

## Enforcement

If investigation determines systematic exploitation, penalties may apply even if specific behaviors were not previously explicit. Extraction harms the game's overall economy over time.

Those intentionally undermining the closed beta economy may face penalties including event rewards ineligibility, deprioritized game actions, unsubsidized transaction fees, and account banning.

We will acknowledge players who responsibly disclose exploits.

# Exporting Your Proof of Play Wallet Private Key

If you created a Proof of Play (PoP) wallet with your email when you created your Pirate Nation account, this process will let you export your private key or seed phrase and self-custody your onchain Pirate Nation account with all its items.

Before you begin to export your private key or seed phrase, read this warning very carefully:

**DO NOT share your private key or your seed phrase with anyone! If someone has access to your private key or your seed phrase, they have full access to your account and all of its assets across all compatible blockchains, including Ethereum, Apex and Boss. Pirate Nation and Proof of Play will NEVER ask you for your private key nor your seed phrase.**

#### Export the Private Key

In order to export your private key, make sure you’re signed into Pirate Nation with the account you want to export. Click the wallet menu in the upper-right corner next to the ‘Play’ button. Click ‘Export Private Key’ from the dropdown menu.

Select ‘copy key’ or ‘copy phrase’ from the new menu that pops up, to add it to your computer’s clipboard.

Paste the private key or seed phrase somewhere temporarily while you note it down safe & preferably offline. If you lose access to the your wallet you will need either one of these to recover it.
