Exporting Your Proof of Play Wallet Private Key

If you created a Proof of Play wallet when you created your Pirate Nation account, this process will let you export your private key and self-custody your onchain Pirate Nation items.

Before you begin to export your private key, read this warning very carefully:

DO NOT share your private key with anyone! If someone has access to your private key, they have full access to your account and all of its assets across all compatible blockchains, including Ethereum and Apex. Pirate Nation and Proof of Play will NEVER ask you for your private key.

Export the Private Key

In order to export your private key, make sure you’re signed into Pirate Nation with the account you want to export. Click the wallet menu in the upper-right corner next to the ‘Play’ button. Click ‘Show Private Key’ from the dropdown menu.

Type the phrase “show private key” in the available text box.

Click ‘Continue.’

Now your private key will be exposed. Click the copy button to the right of the private key text to add it to your computer’s clipboard.

Be very careful with your private key. Do not share your private key with anyone or store it anywhere insecure.

Import the Private Key into a New Wallet

The next step is to add your private key into the wallet of your choosing. We’ve added directions here for Rabby and MetaMask.

Rabby

To download the Rabby wallet, visit the Rabby site: https://rabby.io.

Open your Rabby wallet and click ‘Add an Address.’

Click ‘Import Address’ and paste your private key in the field provided. After that, you can access your Pirate Nation account with your Rabby wallet.

MetaMask

To download MetaMask, visit the MetaMask site: https://metamask.io/download.

Click the account selector at the top of your wallet. Select 'Add account or hardware wallet' at the bottom of the list.

On the next menu, select 'Import account.’

You will be directed to the Import page. Paste your private key and click 'Import.'

After that, you’ll be able to access your Pirate Nation account with all your items in your MetaMask wallet. The ‘Imported’ tag will help you identify your Pirate Nation wallet.
