# Exploration, World Quests, & Shared World

Exploration allows you to sail your ship(s) to the procedurally generated islands of the Infinite Isles. Seek out hidden coves & unchartered territories as you collect [Tier 1 Resources](/learn/the-game/resources-and-crafting.md), including Pirate Gold, Wood, Iron Ore & Cotton.\
\
**Here's how Exploration works:** \
\
1\. Your Pirate is able to swim! Click towards the water off your main island, your Pirate will hop in. \
2\. Alternatively, construct or purchase a [Ship](/learn/the-game/ships.md). Any Ship will do, though some are faster than others. \
3\. Whether you are swimming or sailing a Ship, use your mouse or WASD keys to move around.\
4\. Begin exploring the surround area. You will discover islands unique to your game instance. \
5\. You will be able to hop ashore islands, or disembark your ship by pressing your spacebar. \
\
Note, the islands you are able to explore are unique to your game instance, so they will be different than the islands that your friends will be exploring when they play Pirate Nation.

#### Shared World

You may notice while on Parrot's Perch or out exploring the Infinite Isles that your fellow Pirates are exploring with you.

**Collecting resources:**\
\
Once you are on an island, you will be able to use Energy (your available Energy bar is at the center top of your screen) to collect resources. Once a resource node has been fully harvested, it will not replenish. So you'll need to visit other islands to get more.

**Lost at sea:**

In the event you get lost or stuck while exploring, click the home button in the top -right corner of the screen, beneath your Pirate. This will return your Pirate and Ship to your main island, and you can begin exploring again.

Alternatively, you can always warp back to your Ship instantly with the Return to Ship button if you've deboarded in Exploration mode.

#### Shared World Map

You can click-copy your coordinates to share with your fellow Pirates

While sailing the Infinite Isles, you'll notice some coordinates in the upper-left of the screen by your Captain's portrait. Now, you and all other Pirate Nation players will be navigating an identical map together, rotating to a new version every 12 hours. Chat with your fellow Pirates to find the resources and locations you want by sharing the coordinates!

#### Combat Quests

Pick a fight out on the high seas by spending energy

You can also complete "Combat Quests" by picking fights with enemies you've seen in the Gauntlet while in Exploration mode. When you find the enemy, you can hover over it see the Energy required to attempt the battle and click on it to see the battle details, including lore, difficulty, and possible rewards for success.

You can swap your decks and then do battle similarly to how you approach the Gauntlet.

World Quests can reach up to 5 Skulls ins difficulty, with 4 currently being the highest difficulty available to challenge in the Infinite Isles.
